At 6:30 costume judging and children's races took place. The only adult to enter was Mrs. Peggy Hel- mink, who was awarded a prize for her effort. From 9 till 1, there was a Youth dance in the Auditorium. Saturday was a big day under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion, with cross country snowmobile races, cross country snowshoe races for women, and snowmobile races all afternoon. The Legion ladies provided lunch and supper at the Masonic Hall. Starting at 4 p.m. three hockey teams from Thunder Bay took on local hockey players. : Sunday was the day for the Parade. Led off by the - Volunteer Fire Department Truck, there many attrac- tive floats, sponsored by various organizations and business establishments. Miss Bonnie McEwen, seated in a red convertible, was followed by prize winning floats, sponsored by Art Mercure, first, Terrace Bay Ski Club, second, and Legion Auxiliary, third. Others entered were from the Community Church Ladies Auxiliary, Search and Rescue, Scheuchenpflug Bus Lines, and the Credit Union. Sunday at 2, the Old Pros from Thunder Bay took on the best of Terrace Bay in an exhibition game. The Beard judging contest was sponsored by the Vo- lunteer Fire Department. Judging took place Sunday afternoon at the Arena. Winnerw were Scruffiest - Rene LeClair; Fullest = Archie Heinrich; Stylish - Rolly Sinotte. The Terrace Bay Ski Club entered into the spirit of the Carnival with Novelty races and slalom events. With the highlights of Sunday evening being a Torch- light parade, with most of the skiers takin part. The run was staged in total darkness, except for the spark- lers, one held by each skier. It was truly an unforget- able sight. The evening closed with a wiener roast, with music again supplied by the Terrace Bay Band. L.A. NEWS The afternoon Group of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Community Church held a delightful Pot Luck Lunch- eon on Monday afternoon, at 1:15 in the Church Hall. Members of the evening group were guests. Mrs. Ger= 'trude Soughton, president of the evening Auxiliary was asked to say grace. After the delicious repast, Mrs. June Schritt, chairman, welcomed all the ladies and a newcomer to Terrace Bay, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith. statement, and the snnual report. Over the past year the ladies had sponsored two Friendship luncheons, at twhich older citizens and retired people had been guests, sent 12 boxes of used clothing and applian- ces to Crippled Civilians, Toronto, collected Can- ad Packer labels, used stamps, to be used to aid a leper colony, rolled bandages for leper hospitals, made scrap books for retarded children, and sold m maple syrup. Correspondence included notes of thanks to the sick and visiting committe for cards sent, and a vote of thanks for a new rug installed in the Nursery in the church hall. Election of officers took place, with the follow- ing results = Chairman, June Schritt, Vice-chair- man, Marge Lundberg, Secretary Treasurer, Lil Harris. Mrs. Schritt asked the ladies to bring greeting car cards to the next meeting. She reminded the ladies of World Day of Prayer to be held in St. Martin's Church on March 3rd. > A decision was accepted to hold a meeting in June, and not in December or January, as the wea- ther is often inclement in January.
