A detailed resume of the year's activities was heard. The first project after taking over the school building as a village recreation centre was to obtain through the generosity of many individuals and organizations chairs, tables, fuel oil, kitchen utensils, furniture and appliances. : The Regional Library was contacted and some 500 books were placed in the building and have been changed every three months. Several individuals don- ated their prized collection of Geographic and Life magazines. Some of these date back to the 1940's and are collectors items. These are loaned to the High School students for use in history projects. Holy Angel's C .W.L. donated two hundred books from their library when it was discontinued. These donations have made a fairly good permanent collec- tion of books and good reading. The library has been quite active with a turn over of between twenty and thirty books weekly . The library is run under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. C. Wilde with Mrs. Romeo Bouchard and Mrs. Len lbey operating it during the summer vacation period. Resource books are available through the inter=library loan of Thunder Bay. Many students have taken advantage of this service. It was announced that social entertainment and other activities sponsored by the Recreation Committ- ee at the centre included post-curling refreshments. Another project that was popular during July and August was the showing of films. These were well attended by young and old. Baseballs and bats were purchased for the use of the children during the summer vacation and a folk song group from the United States presented a concert one evening last summer. The committee sponsored several Bingos during the year and were appreciative of the donation of prizes and attendance at them. Another addition to the entertainment part of the committee's projects was cont'd page 16
