Suggestions and practical help will also be welcomed and required by the car- nival committee. A bakeless bake sale is presently being planned but no date set as yet. P.T.A. INSTAL OFFICERS Rev. F.J. Meyer installed the following new officers at the October meeting of the Catholic Parent Teachers' Association = Edwin Borutski, president; Giovanni Cebrario, Ist vice-president; Mrs. Sanford Chicoine, secretary; Mrs. Anthony Speziale, treasurer. There were forty-six attending and after some discussion it was agreed to change the meeting night from a Thursday to the third Wednesday of the month | Mrs. Speziale volunteered to convene the coffee break for each meeting and this year lunch will not be served at meetings. Sister Marvel Belfry, the school principal, urged parents to attend the Open House this year, when, in a change of program, they will be welcomed dur- ing teaching hours in classrooms. Mrs. Hartley McKay and Mrs. Walter Zaporzan were named co-conveners of the membership comm- ittee. It was noted that Gerald Godin has replaced Anthony Speziale on The Lake Superior Board of Education School Board. Miss Suzanne Lemay, of the school staff, intro- duced Constable Anderson of the O.P.P. who. show- ed the film "Highway Agony" a graphic pictorial of the suffering endured in highway accidents. Mem- bers had a discussion period at the end of the film and it was decided the film should be shown to grades 7 and 8. The Anglican Church Women have set their Christmas bazaar-tea for November 17th. Mrs. Elizabeth Clyne, of Transona has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gellert for the past two weeks, visiting her other nephew Herb Gellert and Mrs. Gellert. MR. & MRS. GEROW CELEBRATE 25 ANNIVERSARY A most happy gathering of their immediate family, other relations and friends met in Mr. and Mrs. W%, G. (Bill) Gerow's to offer good wishes on the occas- ion of their 25 wedding anniversary. Their own family literally came from coast to coast for the party = Dwight Marshall, from Paducah, Kentucky; Donna (Mrs. Ted Wainikka) from Winni- peg; with son Grant and Mary Ellen (Mrs. Dennis Bouchie) from Port Alice, B.C. Others from out of town attending included Mrs. Gerow's sister Dorothy (Mrs. J. Tait) of Port Credit; their nephew and neice, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Messenger and son Peter, of Clarkson, Ont.; Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Perault, and Mrs. Annie West, of Thunder Bay. - The party began with a dinner in the Restaurant LeBlanc followed by the evening in the Gerow home when many lovely gifts were presented in token of good wishes. The toasts were many, formal and with the privilege of lifetime friendships witty and colorful in reference to past history, shared by all. A sing-song of dubious musical quality was heari- ily enjoyed, with everyone regretting that Huck did not have his old traps to play. HALLOWEEN DANCE SUCCESS They came over 600, to attend the Fire Brigade Halloween dance in Schreiber = from Geraldton, Beardmore, Nipigon, Thunder Bay, Terrace Bay, Marathon and Manitouwadge! And, this year, with the additional space of the high school auditorium, the tables were filled and the dance floor crowded, and there were more costumes than ever before. An unwritten rule is that no rented costume re- ceives a prize, admired though they may be. It is the single, or group, where ingenuity, and time, in the making, was spent, that earns the plaudits of the crowd and the awards of the judges. Who, this year, were Mrs. D'Arcy McGuire, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shack and Mrs. Edythe Cosgrove Schreiber, and Bruce Gordon, Marathon.
