McCuaig. MRS. CORBETT HONOURED AT 80 Her family and old friends in Schreiber gathered to wish Mrs. Louise Corbett 'many happy returns' on her 80th birthday. First, a dinner party attended by thirty-five was held in St. John's Anglican Hall, followed by a reception when her daughters, Mrs. Tommy Whitton (Kitty) and Mrs. Wesley Miller (Betha) received with her. Mrs. Neil Nesbitt attended the guest book and John Whitton attended the door. Mrs. Jack Whitton was dining room hostess and servitors were Pam and Patty Nesbitt, Mrs. George Riley, Mrs. Jim Smith and Mrs. Ken Williamson. Mesdames Wally Greenshields, Ted Riley, Milton Winters, Harry Duggan, Fred Gresch and Jack Winters, replenished. Tea was poured by Mrs. Nelson Smith, Mrs. Eva | Bailey, Mrs. Robert Winters and Mrs. Mary Chadwill Lovely flower arrangements, a money tree and many individual gifts were presented to Mrs. Corbett who is now a resident of Pinewood Court. Among those from out of town attending the party were M.J. Vibert, administrator of Pinewood Court, Mrs. Eva Bailey, Mrs. Fred Gresch, Mr. and Mrs. Mal McMillan, of Thunder Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Herb Riley and Miss Marilyn Perrault of White River. Mrs. Winnie Clemens attended the annual Fall rally of the Women's Institute held in the Prince Arthur Hotel in Thunder Bay, on October 28th. Mrs. Edward McGregor and family of Kapuskas- ing are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Cosgrove guests. Mrs. Dennis Bouchie, of Alice Lake, B.C. is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gerow. Many informal gatherings were enjoyed when Dr. J.M. Cornell and Mrs. Cornell of Osoyoss, B.C. were holidaying here last week. It is eight years since Dr. Cornell ended his practice here to go west but their old friends reached out welcoming hands wherever they went. They were the guests of their family = Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Costall in Terrace Bay. Great plans are afoot for the Schreiber Figure Skating Club this year, with 82 enrolled, and Mrs. Ivy Pattison, professional, engaged. The usual and faithful mothers will again be supporting the teacher, and public support is surprisingly increasing. Teachers hours are from 3:30 - 4:00 Monday for pre-schoolers and from 4:00 - 6:00 on both Monday and Thursday for others. The Catholic Women's League are holding their Christmas bazaar-tea on December 6th in the town hall with many varied draws and attractive counter wares to offer. Mrs . Leo Godin has her sis ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Brosman, of Kerry, Ireland, visiting her.
