Members present included President, Roy Huard, Vice-Pres- ident, Clover Dukes, and Student Representatives, Shane Walsh, Patricia McGrath, Linda Fraser, Andrew Carmichael, Mark Stokes, Suzenne Comeau, Ralph Coe, Joan Richardson, Debbie Cook, Paddy Stokes, Doug Glad, Jim Corrigan, and Rae Sisson. Business of the day included the election of the secretary~-treasurer, Linda Fraser; duties of the var- ious members; and frequency of meetings. It was also decided to have a Run-a=-Thon in two weeks time, to raise funds to send two students to a track meet in Toronto. The Run-a-Thon is being restricted to the students of Schreiber Campus this time. Members of the Athletic Association have also agreed to provide a luncheon for the 120 students participating in the NSSSAA Cross-Country Meet being held on Schreiber Campus Wed., Oct. 20. SUPER STUDENT COUNCIL MEETING Schreiber-Terrace Bay High School held its second "Super" Student Council meeting on October 13 at Schreiber Campus. At this time a number of important items were discussed. A new constitution for the Council is being drawn up, and a list of objectives that the Council should be striving for was prepared. The functions of a Staff Advisor were also discussed after the question arose as fo whether or not a Staff Advisor was nec- essary . A new dress code was drawn up, and it will be presented to the Principal for approval. A vote was carried that a chocolate bar drive be undertak- en this year as a means of raising funds for school activities. A survey was prepared and given to each student. The survey included such items at hand, such as what a suitable name for the combined campuses of the high school should be in lieu of Schreiber- Terrace Bay High School; what colours should re- present the school, and what name should be given to the school column in the Terrace Bay News, presently called "The Owl's Hoot." It is hoped that the students will come up with some imagina- tive, interesting, and suitable suggestions. A smoking area for both campuses was discussed, but it is to be considered in greater detail ai the nex' meeting of the Super Council. Students are urged to speak to their tribe or home room representatives about any ideas or suggestions they might have pertaining to school functions. The representatives will, in turn, relate these ideas to the Super Student Council. This will en- able the Council to represent all of the students, and act according to what the majority of the student body desires, by way of a democratic process. SURVEY RE HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOC, This week a letter and survey was brought home by the students of the Schreiber-Terrace Bay High School. This survey pertains to the feelings on the part of the students, teachers, and /or parents as to whether or not the Home and School Association: should be continued, or whether it is felt that it should be replaced by an Educational Association. It is hoped that the people concerned will take a few minutes to complete the survey and return it to the school, so that it can be determined whether or not a Home and School Association is still required in the Schreiber-Terrace Bay High School. NIGHT CLASSES Applications are still being received for night classes for which there has been a fair response to date. The main change this year is the fact that the regulation regarding the minimum number of students required before any course can be held, has now been removed, and the Board is now free to set its own minimum numbers. continued page 20....
