Miss Lindsay was recently employed as an Area Supervisor from the Town of Mississauga. In her new position Miss Lindsay replaces Margaret Phillips and will be responsible for providing the services of the Youth and Recreation Branch to those communities east of Thunder Bay in this district and to Atikokan Miss Lindsay will be making her visit to Terrace Bay in the next few weeks and it is hoped that she will meet as many people in our community as possible. "JR. BADMINTON-BASKETBALL PROGRAM With the assistance of the Terrace Bay Badminton Club and various high school students, the Recreation Department will be sponsoring a combined Badminton-Basketball programme every Saturday morning at the High School Auditorium for students in Grade { 7 and 8. * Activities will alternate every Saturday morning betwee Badminton and Basketball. Registrations have been available for Junior Badminton for the past three weeks and any student who would like to join can do so by registering at the Recreation Office, by Friday, October 8th. : Any student who would like to join the Basketball programme can register by leaving their name and phone number at the Recreation Office by TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12TH. REGISTER NOW TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN GET IN THE PROGRAMME. The first session for Junior Badminton will be held this Saturday, October 9th. ARENA AND CURLING ICE Opening dates for the Arena and Curling ice is scheduled for October 30th and November 1st, respectful providing all goes well with the overhaul of the ice machine. It is hoped that public skating sessions will be held on the week-end of October 30th and 31st. With all other winter activities starting during the week of November 1: Likewise, it is hoped that curling ice will be available for use on November Ist. MINOR HOCKEY PLANS PROGRESSING The Terrace Bay Minor Hockey executive wishes to in- form anyone interested in playing organized hockey this season that details regarding registration will be publishe in the next week's News. Terrace Bay Minor Hokcey teams will be competing at the North Shore level again this year and representatives of the executive will be attending this all important meeting on October 17th in Manitouwadge. Meanwhile, the executive is exiremely interested in getting volunteer help to assist in the capacity of coache managers, referees and officials.
