TERRACE BAY NEWS Vol. 14 No. 33 COUNCIL QUOTES Terrace Bay Town Council held only one meeting ° in August, Thursday evening, in Council chambers. Correspondence included a letter from the Depart- ment of Social and Family Services advising that new legislation has been adopted to provide mun- icipalities with the right of appeal in respect of equalized assessment for apportionment of costs, under the Homes for the Aged and Rest Homes Act. A letter to thel ake Superior Board of Education requested deferrment of payment of requisition till such time as taxes are received. The Department of Transportation and Communica] tions advised of additional subsidies for road main- tenance. The interim operating report for Hydro systems for four months of operations was reviewed. Advice from the Pinewood Court, Home for the Aged, Board of Management, stated they were proceeding with various steps toward an extension of Pinewood Court. Letters were sent fo Mr. D. Mannisto and Mr . A. Halonen, regarding road elevation to Lakeview Drive. Council advised the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 223, Terrace Bay, that permission will be granted to tie in fo the Municipal water system, providing the design of the extension is approved by Council, and the cost of installing the system is borne by the Legion.
