McBRIDE Mrs. Harriet McBride, who has retired after being employed with the Chapples' branch in - Schreiber for the past fourteen years was honoured by her friends at a tea held in the United Church hall on Sunday, August Ist. Receiving with her were her sister, Mrs. G.L. McCuaig, of Thunder Bay and her daughter Elaine (Mrs. Ernold Lorenger) of Kenora. Pourers were Mrs. Russell McBride, Mrs. Russell Macadam, Mrs. Alex Furyk, Mrs. Lloyd Walker, Mrs. Wesley Miller and Mrs. Saima Willoughby. Servitors were Joyce, Joan and Sandra Richardson Geri, Diane and Joanne McBride, Karen Kushnieryk, and Lola Scott. Replenishing were Mrs. Jack Richardson, Mrs. R. Hutchinson, Mrs. Bruce McBride, Mrs. Doug McBride and Mrs. Ron McBride. The guest book was attended by Carolyn and Dawn McBride, Mrs. R.A. Freed (Shireen) was table hostess and the gifts were opened by Sharon Lorenger. On behalf of her friends, Mrs. Russell Macadam presented Mrs. McBride with a photo album, saying' it was a unique one since all the pictures were of the same person = Queen Elizabeth - then opening the book to display the pages covered with bills of varying denominations. Mrs. McBride, who has lived all her childhood and the most of her married years in Schreiber, responded by saying a part of her would always remain in Schreiber, and a part of Schrei ber, she felt, would always belong to her, with the many memories she would always have of friends and good times. Mrs. McBride is leaving on an extended visit to her scattered family and will return to live in Thunder Bay. Among those from out of town attended the tea were Mrs. G.L. McCuaig, Thunder Bay; Mrs. R.A. Freed, Prince Albert, Sask.; Mrs. R. Hutchinson, Rosthern, Sask.; Mrs. Ernold Lorenger and family, Mrs. Douglas McBride, and family, of Kenora; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McBride and family, Terrace Bay; David Lindsay, Matheson; Mrs. Jack Moore, Terrace Bay and Mrs. Ralph Miller, Tauranga, New Zealand. FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR G. CATAFORD The funeral of the late George Allan Cataford, in Rossport Harbour this week. this week. whose death at the age of 68, occurred suddenly on July 28th was conducted in Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in Schreiber on July 31st by the Rev. F.J. Meyer. A guard of honor from the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 109, was comprised of Jerry Nicol, Borden Ross, Jack Winters, W. Paradis, Ed Nicol ,. Frank Ginn, Pat McCouan, John. Stitt, Frank McKenna, Leon Cote, Harry Smith and H. Spikula. Honorary pall bearers were Joe Campbell, George Birch, W.T. Wallace, Tommy Bolan, Harry Shack and R.B. Spadoni. Active bearers were L.V. Bourke, E.J. LeBlanc, Arthur LeBlanc, Doug Bznnitz, Joe Caccamo and Lou Karns. Interment was in Schreiber cemetery. Mr. Cataford is survived by his wife, and a daughter, Frances (Mrs. Gino Caccamo) of Schreiber, five sons, Maurice of Boston; Roger of Sarnia; Roland of Nakusp, B.C .; Ivan of Winnipeg and Allan of Port Dover, Ont. and twenty-seven grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Joseph of River Valley, Ont. and Gerald of Kapuskasing, two sisters, Marie Anne Cataford, North Bay and Aline (Mrs. Max Lalande) of Anchorage, Alaska. He. was predeceased by his parents and a brother of North Bay. In earlier years Mr. Cataford had taken an active interest in the Canadian Legion, in which he was a past president, the Knights of Columbus, St. Edward's Council , and had served as municipal councillor. Mr. Cataford came from North Bay to Schreiber in 1943, and was employed in the engineering department, retiring in 1968 as a civil engineer. He was born in River Valley, Ontario. Among the many attending the funeral, from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Max Lalande, Anchorage, Alaska; Roland Cataford, Nakusp, B.C ., Maurice Cataford, Veverley, Mass; Ivan Cataford, Winnipeg; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Cataford, Sarnia; Mr. and Mrs. Allan Cataford, Port Dover; Bernard Cataford, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lafontaine and son Robert, Toronto; Mrs. M. McDonald, Englehart; Gerald Cataford, Kapus=- [= kasing, Mrs. |.
