First playoff game in this league will take place on Tuesday, July éth. Girls' League - The Reds, under Coach B. Legault, have won all their games and the first playoff game is scheduled for Thursday, July 8th. COMING EVENTS Thursday, Julylst = Community activities to cele- brate Dominion Day. Monday, July 5th - Playground programme starts, Arts and Craft Room, Recreation Centre. Monday, July 5th = July set of swimming classes start at Swim Pool . FATHER'S DAY TEA A successful Father's Day Tea took place at the Legion Hall on Sunday evening, June 20th from 7 to 9 p.m. Sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 223, apple pie and cheese or ice cream were featured with tea and coffee. Conveners for this affair were Bea St. Louis and Shirley Opas. Seated at a lace covered table, centered by a flower arrangement and tall tapers, pouring from two silver tea services were Patrick Jones, President of the Branch, George Churney, Past President, Charles Koski, Jim Beddard, Secretary, Harry Gusul and Bruce McBride. Servitors were Debbie St. Louis, Gayle Gould, Diane Coupal, Joanne McBride and Debbie Opas. Kitchen arrangements were in charge of Shirley Opas, Bea St. Louis and Jean Megraw. Taking tickets at the door were Pam Jones and Dot Coupal . Winner of the door prize was Jim St. Louis. | Council, | Individual crests were presented by B. McKie and R. SENIOR CITIZENS HONOURED | Reeve and Mrs. Cavanaugh, on behalf of Township hosted our Senior Citizens to a delicious =. dinner at the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel on Saturday | evening to wind up Senior Citizens' Week. Mr. Cliff Knauff, on behalf of those present, thanked Council, pointing out how much they enjoyed the outing. In response, the Reeve said that Council was hon= oured fo be able to pay tribute to so many old-timers who he felt had played such a big part over the years | in forming the real Christian spirit which prevails in Terrace Bay, making it such a fine place in which to live. a Bali LC MINOR HOCKEY ANNUAL BANQUET 7 i The Terrace Bay Minor Hockey Association Annual Banquet, held at the Moose Hall, was one of the best attended in years. Jerry Dupas was Master of Ceremonies for the evening and welcomed the players, mothers and fathers, guests and donors of trophies. Head table guests included John Pedersen, Rev. P. McKague, Stan Zwaresh, President Cy Brassard, M. Lundberg, Reeve Cavanaugh, John Ferrier, Ollie Chapman, Irene Kettle, Frank Sechesky and M.C. Jerry Dupas. Rev McKague was called upon to say Grice , andi first he spoke a few words of sympathy and comfort to the family of Vincent Calder, who had suffered 3 a tragic accident just hours before. An excellent dinner was prepared and served by mothers of players and members and friends of the Minor Hockey Association, headed by Mrs. B. Kurylo. Presentation of Awards took place. Coach Ray Stachiw and his Falcon's won the Atoms Trophy, House League Champs, presented by B. Bouchard. Stachiw. Costa's Most Valuable Player Award, was presented 3 by Tony Costa to D. Lapenskie. Adamo's Most Improved Player Award won by Stephen Jones was presented by Bob Adamo. In the Pee Wees, the Mustangs were chosen as House League Champs, winning the "Cowboy Young Trophy"* presented by Stan Zwaresh. Individual crests pres= ented by K. Turner and W. Daley. The Sinotte Most * Valuable Player Trophy went to Nicky Chopty, pre=- sented by Cy Brassard. continued page 11
