SCHREIBER DETACHMENT WEEKLY REPORT While on a fishing trip, approximately six miles north of highway 17 off the Zenmac Mine Road, Dominic Pasqualino a resident of Schreiber became separated from his companions. This occurred Sun- day, May 30th about 1:30 p.m. When Mr. Pasqual- ino had not been located by Monday, May 31st arrangements were made to utilize the services of the Armed Forces Search and Rescue, at Trenton, Ontario. A ground search of the area was made by a number of experienced woodsmen late in the after- noon of May 31st. With the arrival of the Search and Rescue helicopter on the morning of June Ist an air search was made and Mr. Pasqualino was located several miles from the point where he became separ=- ated from friends. He was in good physical condition and after a check up at Terrace Bay Hospital he was reunited with his family. Much credit is due fo the efforts of the many local residents who volunteered their services and skills in this successful endeavour. Investigations are continuing into the theft of a g light and fixture from a Department of Transport g boat which was docked at Rossport on May 29th. The stolen property is valued at $15.00. A complaint of molesting animals was made on May 31st with regards to horses which are being kept south of Schreiber. Charges have been laid in this connection. Investigation is being conducted by Constable Lapworth and Bosley of this detachment. A theft of a fishing rod and reel from the Armed Forces Helicopter, which was brought to Schreiber to aid in the Search for a missing person, occurred on the night of June 1-2. Part of the stolen property was recovered. This matter is still under investigation. A complaint of assault was reported and investi- gated on June 5th. A total of four motor vehicle collisions were in= vestigated during the past week of which one was a hit and run, another a collision involving a moose and two other property damage collisions. In the case of the hit and run occurring in ES Schreiber the night of June 4-5 the offending & vehicle has been located and charges have been = laid for failing to remain at the scene. The moose - car incident took place June 2nd at about 2:00 a.m., near Jackfish Lake, Highway 17, A woman passenger in the vehicle was injured and required hospitalization. Damage to the car was in excess of $1000.00 - the moose was killed. Motorists are urged to reduce speed and pay special attention for wild life, particularly moose, which are a common sight on the highway at this time of year.
