PAGE 18 TERRACE BAY NEWS MAY 12, 1971 SCHREIBER DETACHMENT WEEKLY REPORT During the week from April 28/71 to May 1/71, members of this detachment investigated one liquor violation, Charges have been laid and will be precessed through the courts in May. Mr, Michael Zombori, 430 Main St., Schreiber, reported that during the night of April 28, someone punctured three tires on a vehisle parked near his yard. Investigation is ocon- tinuing in an effort to locate person(s) responsible for this senseless act of vandalism. A report of prowlers was received on April 30, end investi- getion located suspects. The public is $0 be commended for their so~operation in reporting and assisting police in such matters, There were no motor vehicle collisions during the past week, The public is to be commended for the reduction in collisions over the sme period last year. The safest vehicle is still the one not involved in an eccident, If the present trend continues there will be many homes saved from the tragedy of having a family member injured or killed in a col- 1ision. Moose will be soon coming onto area highways. Reduce your speed at night, particularly as these animals will give little warning of their presence. Studded tires ere no longer legal and must be removed. Replace them with tires having good tread. Worn tires are dangerous and can blow-out or cause unexpected skids, PARENTS - mgke sure your children have put their bikes away before dark, unless properly equipped with lights. During the week from May 2/71 to May 8/71, one liquor investigation was conducted resulting in a Schreiber youth being charged under the provisions of the Liquor Control Act. Subject to appear in Provincial Court this month. On May 3, & local machine operator contacted this office and advised that person (s) were tampering with machinery that was parked at a site after work was completed. Investi- gations are in progress and anyone found tampering with this machinery will face the courts. Constable Lapworth is presently investigating a theft of monies from & private residence. Entry was gained by walking through an open door and removing the money from a counter top where it had been left for a delivery man. The residence wes vacant for approximately 15 minutes, If you are leaving your house - lock the door. Two collisions were reported during the period May 2-8/71. Both of a minor nature. On May 2, Constable Bosley investigated a hit and run which occurred at MoKellar Creek, A vehicle owned by Terrance Thomp- son of Manitouwsdge was parked and unattended when it was struck on the drivers door by another vehicle that was in the process of turning around, On May 7, at 11:25 p.m., Douglas Caldwell, Hudson Drive, Terrace Bay was proceeding west on Highway 17 when a left resr tire blew forcing the vehicle out of control and sliding sideways down the road. The vehicle struck the north shoulder and came to rest against the rock cut. Although the roof and left side of the vehicle were badly damaged, the driver es- caped injury. Investigation was conducted by Const. Anderson. FORMER ROSSPORTITE FUNERAL IN THUNDER BAY The funeral of Mrs. Delina King, who passed away after a brief illness in the General Hospital was held Wednesday mor ning at ten o'clock. A Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Murray assisted by Rev. Dean Gallagher and inter- ment in St. Andrews cemetery Thunder Bay with Rev. Father Murray conducting the graveside prayers. The Rosary was recited at Everest Chapel Tuesday evening. Born at Rossport in 1900 and married to Joseph King in 1919. They celebrated their fifthieth anni- versary in 1969. They moved from Rossport to the Lakehead in 1949. The late Mrs. King was a member of Rossport Altar Society and the Rossport Women's Institute. Upon residing in Port Arthur she joined the Catholic Women's League, St. Andrew's Church, the Canadian Cancer Society and was a life member of Jumbo Gardens Women's Institute. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; three daughters Evelyn, (Mrs. Amidie Prairie); Doris, Mrs. A. Tremblay and Margaret Mrs. Lenard Johnson all of Thunder Bay. Fourteen Grandchildren and five great grandchildren, three sisters Mrs. Josephine Kenney, Rossport, Mrs. Jos Campbell, Terrace Bay and Mrs. Mary Boudreau, Timmins; four brothers Felix, Herbert and Eugene Legault of Rossport and Lester Legault of Terrace Bay. She was predeceased by parents and three brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers were Mr. Ray Kenney, Russell Gerow, Melvin Prairie, J. Tremblay, Ed Murro and P. Johnson. Ha!
