In the late spring they carried out a brush- ing and repair program on the trail to the Aguasabon gorge. Their 1971 summer camp consisted of a 50 mile canoe trip up into Steel Lake. With the help of the scouts as salesmen and | deliverers, the venturers organized a very successful Christmas card sales campaign. GROUP As a group the scouting organization has completed various projects over the past year. These include: - A Father and Son Banquet - Held in February this banquet had an attendance of approximately 100. It was held at the Community = Church and was a great success. Sam Ballentine and = Paul Malashewski were presented with long service = awards. ES A New Registration System = This involved a commit=" tment from each parent, at registration time, to help 1 the group through the year in some fashion. It has 3 worked quite well so far, however, the spring work parties will be the final test. Apple Sale = The apple sales were quite successful this year with profits of approximately $215.00. There were some problems with overly ripe apples, but we intend to solve them in the future by making sure customers are aware of the availability of ex- changes. Christmas Card Sales = The venturers and scouts organized a very successful Christmas card sale in 1970. Total profits from the sale were approximately $510.00. Thanks are due to the parents who helped in the deliveries. Scout Camp Renovations = This is a program which has been set up by the venturers. The main building at the camp is no longer in a condition satisfactory for holding cub camps. As the group is not in a good enough financial condition to pay for repairs to the camp, the venturers are proposing fo get materials for repairing one half of the building by disassembling the other half. This will still leave cont'd page 11.......
