The Canadian Transport Commission advised of a request for comments on the integration of the C .N. and C .P. Trans-continental Train Service. Advice was received from the Department of Highways to the effect that a traffic survey regarding widening of Hudson Drive and Highway 17 entrance indicated this area does not warrant a right hand turning lane. Ontario Hydro of Thunder Bay advised council of the sale of three residential properties to Kimberly Clark Pulp and Paper Company, Limited. The Building Inspector reported one permit issued for a Recreation room. A letter from the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 223, Terrace Bay, requesting a change in zoning by-laws to permit construction of a new Legion Hall on their present land was received. A meeting will be arranged with representatives of the Legion and Council to discuss this matter as soon as possible. Further to the request of Mr. E. Glad, for re- zoning of Industrial areas to permit construction of a motel, east of the town, and adjoining the Depart- ment of Highways properties was discussed. It was the decision of Council that no change from existing industrial use in this area will be made at this time. Commercial property upon which this type of bus- iness may be erected is available within the area presently zoned for Commercial use. A supplementary road maintenance expenditure by-law, in the amount of $4000. was passed and submitted to the Department of Highways for approv= al. : A road construction by-law covering the construc tion of proper drainage facilities for roads contem- plated for 1971, in the amount of $10,000. was passed and submitted for approval to the Depertment of Highways. A resolution was passed to purchase a new Police Cruiser from Elgar Wright Motors, Nipigon, Ont. Tenders for patching of access sidewalks into Simcoe Plaza, and curbing on the Kenogami~-Mc= Donald corner will be called. Reeve Cavanaugh reported on the meeting of the Executive of the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association held in Terrace Bay recently, and deemed - it most successful .
