HEALTH UNIT 'COMES TO THE PEOPLE' A public participatory meeting of the Thunder Bay District Board of Health, under the chairmanship of Mrs. Grace Remus was held in the Schreiber High School auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on April 23rd. Preceeding the meeting a dinner was given in the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel with Reeve F.V. Harness and Mrs. M. Zombori, clerk, of Schreiber; and Reeve W.E. Cavanaugh and clerk, W.J. Hanley of Terrace Bay also attending. Various supervisory personnel accompanied the board for the purpose of answering questions and supplying background material on their individual responsibilities. : A report was given from W.G. Klages, chairman of the property committee, concerning the Unit's future new clinic facilities at McKellar Hospital. An equit- able arrangement has been made with the hospital board regarding renovations in a section of the former north wing. Additional sub-office space in the municipal building, offered by the town of Geraldton was ac- cepted. Arrangements were finalized regarding the sponsor=- ship of a dental director for the year 1971-72 and subsequent full time employment. Similar arrange- ments for a dental hygienist were discussed. In support of concern expressed by other Health Units the Board strongly endorsed the retention of reg- ulation for pri vate sewage disposal systems by the Ontario Department of Health and the inspection and approval of such systems remaining with local Health units.
