SUMMER STAFF APPLICATIONS CLOSE TODAY As advertised in the last two issues of the NEWS, application deadline for all summer staff positions with the Recreation Department will close today, Wednesday, May 5th, at 5:00 p.m. APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE. For further information regarding the above, call the Recreation Office at 3542. NORTH SHORE BADMINTON TOURNAMENT The annual North Shore Badminton Tournament will be held in Manitouwadge on May 15th and 16th Members of the local Adult Badminton Club have been taking advantage of extra sessions to prepare for this event. Sessions for the adult club up until the tournament are as follows: Tuesday, May 4th - 9: to 11:00 p.m.; Wednesday, May 5th = 9 to 11 p.m.; Saturday, May 8th = 1 to 3 p.m.; Tuesday, May 11th ? to 11 p.m.; Wednesday, May 12th = 9 to 11 p.m. Adults members who have registered for the North Shore Tournament should take full advantage of these badminton sessions. The best of luck to our local players in the North Shore Tournament. LADIES "KEEP FIT' CLASSES Session #2 for the Ladies 'Keep-Fit' classes will be held this Thursday, May 6th, at the High School Auditorium. A reminder fo registrants that they should attend their sessions on time as one group will be starting at 8:00 p.m. and the second at 9:15 p.m. THERE ARE STILL A FEW PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT YET PAID THEIR REGISTRATION FEE FOR THE COURSE. Registration fee of $2.00 for Recreation members and $3.00 for non-members must be paid at the Recreation Office. MEN'S BASKETBALL Registration deadline for this programme has been advanced one more week fo this Friday, May 7th. This program is being offered to ADULTS ONLY and participants must be Recreation Association members. If you are interested in taking part in an unstruct- ured basketball programme to be held once weekly, call the Recreation Office and leave your name. SPRING AND SUMMER BROCHURES The Recreation Office has been advised by the printers that the Spring and Summer brochures will be ready for circulation by Wednesday, May 5th. Brochures will be delivered door to door and residents are encouraged to read these brochures fo get infor- The brochure also contains information on the Recreation and Swim Pool membership system, why it is in force and how one can join. BROCHURES SHOULD BE DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR TODAY. BRIDGE CLASSES Session #4 will be held this evening Wednesday, May 5th, starting at 7:30 p.m. sharp. This week's session will be held in the large meeting room of the Recreation Centre. Again, the instructors encourage that all participants be on time for their classes. GAMES ROOM A reminder to the general public that the Games Room is now open, according to the following schedule: = Monday to Friday 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. 6:30 to 11:00 p.m. Saturday ~ 10:00 to 5:00 p.m. 6:30 to 11:00 p.m. Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Unfortunately we have experienced problems with the pinball machines; however, we hope that these problems will be overcome immediately. The general public is encouraged to drop in to the Games Room and take part in any of the activities offered. The Games Room is constantly under adult supervision to ensure proper use of the equipment in the room. COMING EVENTS Wednesday, May 5th = Grade 8 Mothers Day Bridge, Tea and Bake Sale = Community Church, 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 5th - 7:30 p.m., Session #4, Bridge Classes = large meeting room of Recreation Centre. ; Thursday, May 6th - Session #2, Ladies 'Keep-Fit" Classes, High School Auditorium, 8 p.m. Friday #May 7th - Brownie and Guide Cookie Day Saturday, May 8th - Junior Badminton Session, 10 to 12 noon =~ High School Auditorium.
