ABILITY FUND APPEAL SUCCESSFUL : Children 15s. &under $1.25 SCHREIBER FASTBALL LEAGUE ELECTS EXECUTIVE The Schreiber Men's Fastball League held an open meeting on Sunday March 28th in the Schreiber Legion. Turnout was favourable and at this meeting the league executive was chosen as follows: - President = N. Boon, Vice-President = R. Moore, Secretary = Y. Beauparlant, Treasurer = L. Verdoni, Directors = |. McAdam, C. Foreman, J. Davis. It was decided to remain a three team league for this year but increase schedule by one game per week. Games to be played Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, postponed games to be played Sunday afternoons. The executive was advised to look into the poss- ibility of erecting bleachers and other improvements' to the playing field. Other items of interest discussed included the sel- ection of teams and also of tournament teams. It was also decided that trophies for batting champ, most home runs, most improved player over last -year and most valuable player in league and play- . off will be given trophies. It is the executive's intention to meet as often as possible from now until the league begins to play and after each meeting will inform all interested persons through the media on such meetings. If there are questions that anyone would like to have answered in regards to this year's fastball league all members on the executive will gladly do so if The sum of $418.55 was realized by collectors for the Ability Fund Appeal (Easter Seal) and Mrs. D. Rummery chairman and her committee Mesdames R. Macadam, J.D. Bryson, D. McGurie, and J. Camp- bell are most grateful for the response in Schreiber and Rossport. The collectors included Mesdames H. Duggan, J. Richardson, A. Cosgrove, A. Major, A. Furyk, P. Doig, R. Sisson, M.J. McGrath, D. Brown, I. Johnson, W. Dukes, B. Birch, H. Prescott, A. Huard, G. Riley, F. McColeman, E. Holmes, S. Petrushack, J. Power, H. Fischer, E. LeBlanc, T. Webb, W. Kushnieryk, R. McBride, J. Spillane, B. Kinney, N. Glad, R. Dietrich, B.A. Scott, Schreiber; C. Wilde and B. O'Hagan, Rossport. DAVIS RINK VICTORIOUS Jayne Davis' rink emerged as winner in the annual bonspiel of grade 7 and 8, Schreiber Public School. Playing with her were Dean Fischer, third; Judy Davis, second and Peter Prinselaar, lead. In the regular scheduled curling the girls' and boys' trophies were won by Nancy Armstrong's rink - Pam Nesbitt, Diana Madge and alternating spares. Peter Gerow's rink for the boys = Robert Bouchard, Tommy Bouchard and Raymond Goodchild. Twelve rinks took part in this schedule. The school is grateful to Gerwood Enterprizes, Thunder Bay, who donated trophies and a Plage for the bonspiel winner.
