A resolution was passed to send as many of the councillors, who found themselves able to go, as well as the Town Clerk, Bill Hanley. The Terrace Bay Chamber of Commerce submitted their annual report of activities for 1970. Advice was received from the Department of Muni- cipal Affairs regarding Provincial-Municipal employ- ment incentive programs and subsidies provided through same. y A letter from the Ontario Department of Tourism confirmed they would meet with members of Council and the Chamber of Commerce on March 24th. A complaint was received from a local tax payer regarding the condition of the entrance to the drive- way, due fo street cutting operations, resulting in having to have a tow truck remove the car, resulting in a bill for towing. The suggestion was made in the letter that payment be made by the Municipal office. After discussion, it was determined that it is the responsibility of the home owner to maintain the ac- cess driveway. A letter was received from Mrs. J. Nugent, thank- ing Council fer supplying the bus for a recent trip info Manitouwadge, so that local residents might attend the School Board meeting. A report was given on the recent meeting held in Schreiber between the Board of Management, Home for the Aged and members of both councils. The Additional accomodation in the present Pinewood Court in Thunder Bay was reviewed, as well as a possible satellite facility in Geraldton. Reeve Cava- naugh also reported on the meeting. A letter was sent to the Township of Marathon ad- vising them that Terrace Bay had lodged an appeal relative to equalization report for apportionment of 1971 costs for the Thunder Bay Home For the Aged. The Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers will hold a Spring Zone meeting in Thunder Bay on April 8th. It was suggested that Mrs. M. Simmer, recently appointed Deputy Clerk-Treasurer be ap- pointed to attend. The interim payment fo the Lake Superior Board of Education in the amount of $77,000 due March 31st, was authorized for payment. Final reading was given to the by-law, appointing Mrs. M. Simmer as Deputy Clerk-Treasurer. "Under new business, Councillor Bray moved that tenders be called for painting the stairwell, upstairs hallway and the basement washrooms in Hydro Build- ing.
