Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Helen Wallace were elected as representatives to the District Association. These moves were made at the regular meeting on March 24th, with Mrs. Beth Macadam, N.G. and Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, V.G. presiding. The vice grand gave the sick and visiting report, thanking members for their kindness during her own recent illness. : The Ways and Means committee reported receiving a shipment of books = "Housekeeping Tips and Tricks" Recipe File. These may be obtained from Mrs. Hami- lton for a nominal price. : Plans were completed for the Spring Tea to be held in the Town Hall on Saturday, April 3, with a table of homemade candy and baking as an additional attraction. A ham and shlad cold plate will be served and there will be a door prize. The committee ap- pointed for this, Mesdames Annie Niemi, Len lbey, Mavis Slater, Florence Fischer, Chris Morris, Alice Sparkes, Eirene Harness, Mary Legault and Helen 'Wallace. : A donation was sent to the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario for the support of a bio-chemist. Mrs. Della Moore presented the semi-annual re- port of the property committee. Members wishing to order The Tabloid were asked to contact the secretary. : Mrs. Winnie Clemens read an article on "Member- ship" published in the International Rebekah News- paper . SUCCESSFUL TEA AND BAKE SALE HELD The St. Patrick's Tea and Bake Sale given by the United Church Women was most successful, with the tea being poured by Mrs. Nellie Gerow and Mrs. Juanita Gellert, Mrs. Nelson Smith and Mrs. Cyril Pyke. Serving tables were Mesdames E.C. Prinselaar, Judy Cameron, W.T. Wallace Walter Dukes, Bruce Simon and Della Moore. Mesdames Bill Gerow, Anne Niemi, Russell Macadam and George Scott reple=- nished. In charge of the bake table was Mrs. S. Petrushack and Mrs. W., Clemens. Cashier was Mrs. B. Gerow. Mrs. Lloyd Walker won the door prize and Mrs. W. Clemens the floral centrepiece. ; W.1. NAME DELEGATE The eleven members at the March meeting of the Women's Institute answered the roll call by presenting a donation of tea bags and telling an Irish story. A letter of appreciation was read from Mr. and Mrs. John Spikula for the happy occasion arranged to mark their son being Schreiber's New Year Baby. Mrs. C. Todesco was named as delegate to the Officers' Conference being held in Guelph in May. Plans were made to hold a penny auction in June. Mrs. Wesley Clemens, who presided, reminded convenors to have their reports in readiness for the April meeting, when election of officers will take place. meeting which she attended in Thunder Bay. After studying information sent by the Ontario Department of Agriculture, Home Economics Branch, Mrs. Mavis Slater reported on the District Directors' members decided they were interested in the following programs: Tricks With a Mix and Dollars Worth of Meat. Dates for these events will be announced later. Following the meeting, penny auction was enjoyed, = convened by Mrs. Chris Morris and Mrs. Mavis Slater. Lunch was served by Mrs. Winnie Campbell and Mrs. Annie Niemi. BROWNIE COOKIE DAY = MAY 12th Mrs. Mary Shack, Commissioner, presiding for the March meeting of the L.A. to the Guides and i Brownies, announced there will be a Provincial mee- ¥ ting in Thunder Bay in May and urged leaders to at- tend. A Blue and Brown Training Day is to be held on April 3, time and place to be announced later. Brownie Cookie Day was announced for May 12th, and plans were made for a Girl Guide Tea on April 24th, when a bake table will be an additional at- traction. 4 Mrs. 1.G. McDorman of Toronto, International Advisor, wrote asking for accommodation for 35 girls and 6 leaders on Sunday, July 18th, in Schreiber. She also asked to have breakfast and dinner served fo the group.
