BASKETBALL RESULTS : On Tuesday, February 9th, Schreiber High . School teams went to Marathon to play basketball . ~ Our girls came out on top with a score of 20-19. Although it was a really close game and a fight to 'the finish, the boys' game closed with a score of 43-4] for Marathon. All teams should be congratulated for their fine effort and sportsmanship. Let us all attend future games and provide the moral support for our hardworking teams and coaches. WINTER CARNIVAL Schreiber High Schools Annual Winter Carnival begins on Thursday, February 18th at 3 p.m., with a Sock Hop that evening. It coninutes on Friday with numerous events being held at the Arena and the High School. The Anglican Church Women are serving the delicious dinner in the church basement again this year. Friday evening the Carnival winds up with a dance sponsored by the Schreiber High School and Terrace Bay High School Students Council . The crowning of the Queen and King from both schools will take place at the dance. The Band will be the "Pillars". ROSSPORT TOWN TOPICS A fun packed two hours wes enjoyed by spectators when a most entertaining curling game between the Department of Lands and Forests and the Department of Highways -was played Thursday evening. It ended in a score of 7-5 in faveur of the Department of Highwsys. Up to the fifth end, the highway boys had the fire fighters 5-0 till they scored in the lsat three ends. The teams were: - Dept. of Lands and Forests - Ben Lepenski, Ken Bowlier, H. Scott and Dan Morrigon. For the Dept. of Highways ~ Dave Mushqush, Romeo Bouchard, Eugens Gerow and Herb Legault. Another chellenged geme wes betwsen fathers and gona of the Rossport Curling Club, The young boys tried tc show their! parents how to play the game but the Dads took them for a wallop to the tune of 11-5. Dads teams were Romeo Bouchard, Eugene Gerow, Geo. Goodchild and Dave Mushqush, The Boys were Pater Mushqush, Peter Cerow, Robert Bouchard and Reymond Good- child. Williem Schelling had a gang of men harvesting the ice for fishing season. Very clear ice betwean 20 to 24 inches thick wes cut and hauled to the ice house for storing. Mrs. Patsy Gerow visited her husband Jack in the hospital in Thunder Bay. Clem Downey is holidaying in the United States with re- latives. Mrs. C.W, Todesco wes & business visitor to Thunder Bay on the "weekend. Mr, and Mrs. R. Skillen of Nipigon were in the village during the week. : Ronald lenigan of Marathon was in the village this wesk. Mr. and Mrs. A. Minoletti left Mondey for their home in Thunder Bay after spending the past week with Mr, and Mrs. P, Testori. Mrs. G. Goodchild is home from McCausland, Terrace Bay. A successful meeting of St. Berchman's Altar Society wes | held Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. B. O'Hagan. Mrs. E. Gerow chaired the meeting. Mrs. M, Hubelit read the minutes, correspondence and financiel statement, showing a small ba- lance. It wea recommended thet some form of raising forms be held. Members agreed the insurance should be raised on the church and contents. It was decided 8 letter be sent te the member of parliament expressing the members disapprovel of the bill on Abortion. The members thought that the boys from the Parish should be chosen to serve Mass instead of bringing them in from Schreiber. A discussion was had on providing gowns for the girls who participate in the serving of Mass. It waa de- cided to meske several scrapbooks of picture covers of used Christmas cards and magazine pictures to be sent to the chil- dren's ward of a hospital or the retarded children's school. Rev, Father Meyers of Nipigon will succeed Rev, Father Cano. LOT Following adjournment, the hostess served lunch and a plea- sant hour over the coffee cups was enjoyed. 5 : Td GR
