PAGE 8 TERRACE BAY NEWS JANUARY 7, 1971 CANNED TUNA FISH - Cont'd from page 1 ... and the Honourable Jack Davis, Minister of Fisher- ies and Forestry, announced that as a result of wide- spread concern about mercury in the environment, all lots of canned tuna destined for the Canadian market are being analyzed for mercury. Those lots found to contain more than acceptable amounts are not being released for sale. The Ministers stressed that results to date pose no acute hazard to human health. The public need not be concerned about the safety of stocks of tuna at the retail level, or in homes. Staff of both Departments are continuing extensive programs of analys's for mercury in Canadian foods, to ensure that the public remains safe from risks of mercury poisoning. For example, numerous analyses of Canadian canned salmon have shown it ot be safe. ANNUAL TALENT NITE AT LEGION JAN. 23rd. The ladies auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion held their December meeting with Mrs. S. Ballen- tine presiding with the old business on the agenda, and then turned over the meeting to Mrs. P. Coupal (new president elect) for conclusion. Details for New Years Eve Party were discussed and plans finalized. Mrs. S. Boyd and Mrs. C. Bougie are to be complimented on their professional touch on decorating the club room, complete with a Christmas tree. The Christmas wreath was won by Mr. C. Mercier, draw being made at Robinsons Store. For starting the new year with some excitement, the annual "Talent Nite" will be held on January 23rd, with live music for dancing by "Peanuts & Company". Mrs. D. Gunter requests all entertainers start their rehearsals as of now, as she will be con- tacting same. It is hoped that new talent will be recruited. Friday nite lunches will once again commence and all members will be contacted. At the closing of the meeting dainties were served and to finish off the year with a grand finale, mem- bers took Mrs. R. Dakin for a daring aeroplane ride. MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENT Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Paulsen of Terrace Bay are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Diane, to Mr. Bart Cebrario, son of Mrs. Y. Cebrario and the late Mr. Cebrario of Schreiber. The marraige took place December 18th, in Terrace Bay.
