This was followed by a sing song led by Father Gvora. The children then presented their gifts to be sent to children less fortunate than themselves. It was gratifying to the teachers of St. Martin's School to see so many parents attend this annual concert. HOSPITAL BOARD CHOSEN The application for public status for the a McCausland Hospital is being processed by the Ontario Hospital Services Commission. The following citizens have been chosen and are being appointed to the new Hospital Board: - John Ferrier = Terrace Bay Alan Chisholm - Terrace Bay Thor Olsen - Terrace Bay Rena McAdam - Terrace Bay Michael McCausland, M.D. - Terrace Bay Donald Beno = Schreiber * Raymond Cook - Schreiber This interim Board of appointed members will guide the hospital administration for the period when the transition is being made from private to public status. With | 8 this emphasis comes a need for people qualified to' deal with, and interested in the child with learning problems as' well as one with exceptional talents. The Lake Superior School Board is very fortunate this year in having Mrs. Margaret Averill on staff as Special Education Consultant. Mrs. Averill comes to this district from the Lakehead Board of Education where she has spent many years in the field of special education. Her background of experience will be invaluable to the people of The Lake Superior School District. Mrs. Averill makes her home in Maration with her husband, Jim, at 46 Sund Crescent. From there, she commutes on a very busy schedule to the other towns in the district. At the various schools, Mrs. Averill consults with and advises the teachers on programs for children with special educational needs. Mrs. Averill does not limit her help to the schools only, she has generously let the basement of her home be converted into a special Education Centre where teachers and other interested persons of the cont'd page 13 ..... = and happy, easy, safe motoring!
