The Kinsmen and the Women's Artificial Ice Fund are two Associations to whom great credit is due for their continuing efforts in the welfare of the town. The Ice Fund has raised over $20,000 toward the installation of ice. The Kinsmen, who presented the town's first ambulance, have contributed to the Ice Fund, made great improvements to the beach at Sand Lake, work and assist financially in almost every community endeavor and this year are aiding the curling rink to remain open, one of the few or- ganized winter activities for all ages. The Recreation Committee set up for the town has sponsored learn-to~swim classes, with buses pro- vided for the children, sponsored summer school for younger children and last summer kept the arena in full swing with tennis, badminton and other games. Mr. Harness continued that the council are ho- ping to secure posession of the old postoffice build- ing for use of the library, and in one area maintain a centre for senior citizens. The library contributes much to local recreation and also as a project re- source for students although operating on a meagre budget. During the recent flood Mr. Harness said he was pleased to note that may of those assisting distressed homeowners were Legion members. In closing, Mr. Harness stated the council is most hopeful that the long-delayed sewage project will begin early next year. Mr. Caccamo thanked Mr. Harness and paid tri=- bute to the many who had assisted in making the Remembrance Day ceremonies so meaningful and successful . Following the dinner Mrs. Mary Hollinger played for dancing. See photo next column The Schreiber CPR Employees' Credit Union is holding its twentieth annual business meeting on November 27th. The event will start with a get- acquainted period from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. followed by the business meeting. At 9:00 there will be a cabaret dance open to the public, with a small ad- mission for non-members .
