TERRACE B/Y : November 26, 17/V THE LAKE SUPERIOR BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETS NOMINATIONS NIGHT HELD IN TERRACE BAY At the Nov. meeting of the Lake Superior Board of Education it was decided that a crash program on traffic safety education in the Terrace Bay Public School be conducted in co-operation with the Terrace Bay Municipal Council, due to the hazards caused by Highway 17 crossing the Municipality. Expenditures for October 1970, as listed at $246, 102.5! were approved. : The decision of the Planning Committee to continue the servi ce of Graham and Bacon, Architects for the Schreiber Public School addition was communicated to the Board. Permission was granted to add one part-time jani- toress to the caretaking staff of each of Alexander and Stevens Avenue Elementary Schools in Marathon for a maximun of 15 hours per week at the current union rate. The Board approved the request for secretarial ass- istance at the Manitouwadge High School and that the Secretarial assistant be hired on a part monthly salary based on a half day basis - 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each day, to begin as soon as possible. Amendment of the Elementary Teachers' Contract Section 8:05 as recommended by Mr. K. Beasley was carried. 8:05 4: An occasional Supply Teacher, employed as a substitute for a Teacher, and not holding an Ontario Teaching Certificate presently valid in an Elementary or Secondary School but retaining a Teaching Certificate presently valid in the Public Schools of another Province shall be paid a per diem rate of twenty-five dollars ($25.00). It was resolved that the Board accepi with regret, the resignation of Mrs. S. Quinton from the Terrace Bay Public School effective December 31, 1970. Continued on page 13 ..... A fair number of interested citizens attended nom- inations night at the Recreation Centre, Monday at 7:30 p.m. ee Nominated for the position of Reeve were W.E. Cavanaugh and William Adamo. For Council, five names were submitted - Jack Caccamo, Roy Bray, Dave Desrosiers, Alan Chisholm and Joe Kennedy. The combined Schreiber-Terrace Bay Roman Catholic Separate School Board nominations were - Mel Nicol, George Ramsay, Margaret Helmink, Marion Bouchard, Frank Sechesky, and Ross Mitch- ell. The Divisional Lake Superior Board of Education for Public School Trustees by acclamation are Harry Coe and Carl Gorham. The Divisional Separate School Board - of which three are to be elected from Schreiber, Terrace Bay and Manitouwadge - Yvon Butler (Manitouwadge), Dr. Brian McDonald, (Terrace Bay), Anthony Speziale (Schreiber), Joseph Murphy (Manitouwadge) and David Auger (Manitou- wadge) . These nominees had until 9 o'clock Tuesday, November 24th to qualify.
