PAGE 16 TERRACE BAY NEWS NOVEMBER 19, 1970 News Release - cont'd from page 14 Facilities, while not lacking basics to any extent, | have fallen behind standards now expected by the Department of Health. Hospitals such as in Manitou- wadge, Atikokan, Nipigon and Geraldton have all improved their position to the point where they now comply with the Department of Health specifications, and, as these hospitals are not privately controlled they are eligible for considerable grants from the Department. In addition, to becoming eligible for these grants, we would have unlimited access to the many expert advisors provided by the Department for the operation and administration of the hospital . It is thus the intention of Kimberly-Clark to make a gift of the hospital in its present form to the towns of Terrace Bay, Schreiber and Rossport to be run by the people of the community through an elected board of trustees. In order that there be no interruption in present services and that a smooth transition be made from a privately operated hospital to a publicly operated hospital, the Ontario Hospital Services Commission has given assurance that an interim Board of appoint- ed representatives from the two main towns, will be approved. This board will function both in the oper- ation and administration of the hospital as it now exists and in the planning of the Public Hospital . It is the intent of the Company in co-operation with the proposed board to keep the public well informed. NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC The time has come for the taxpayers in town to take stock of the type of government we have had in pow- er for the past four years. We should question ourselves on the following: - 1. What have they done in the past four years to help the Taxpayers? 2. Why have councillors raised their wages by $200. and the Reeve $400. after every election? 3. Why has the sum of over $2000. per year been spent attending conventions. As we know, the majority of these meetings are only for drinking and a good time at the taxpayers expense . 4. Why did they give in to K.C.P.P. to buy material to pay for Lake View. You recall at the last election the Reeve admitted he was partially responsible for the Sub-Division By-Law. 5. Why is Radar used only from time to time? 6. Why is not a working man or his wife on the CPR EMPLOYEES (SCHREIBER) CREDIT UNION LTD. Why is it that tenders for Storm Sewers and Fire Hall not advertised in our local paper? 8. Why are only the 13, 14 and 15 year olds being blamed for all the vandalism in town, when the old= er ones are whipping around town with cars and liquor on their breath and not much is being done about it? 9. Is it that having business men in Council who do not want to take a definite stand on certain projects as it might be bad for their business? 10. Why did they remove our flat rate on Hydro? 11. Why was airplane fare paid to Ottawa for two Councillors and their wives. Consider the above and make sure you put your name for office of Councillors and Reeve. Signed, W. Adamo.
