TERRACE BAY NEWS NOVEMBER 12, 1970 Rd" "THE OWL'S HOOT" ND Za CROSS COUNTRY TEAM TRAVELS TO WOODBRIDGE The Schreiber High School junior boys cross country team and their coach, Mr, Wilde, travelled to Woodbridge, Ontar io, to compete in the Ontario Federation of Secondary School Athletic Associations! Cross Country finals on Saturday, November 7th. To be entered in competition against 300 top runners from thirty-six secondary schools was an exciting experience for the members of the team. Being an initial experience against such competition, the boys are to be congratulated on their excellent performance. The results were as follows: - Ron Chicoine placed first for the Schreiber team and I52 nd out of 300 runners; Mark Stokes placed ISWth; Lonnie Connelly placed I72nd; Bill Smilsky placed 204th; and Robert Nesbitt placed Z05th, The team placed 32nd out of the 36 schools entered. Mr. Jack Stokes, M.P. for Thunder Bey, provided moral support for the team when he travelled to Woodbridge to observe the races. SCHREIBER BOYS WIN. McDONALD TROPHY On Wednesday, November 5th, the Schreiber and Terrace Bay boys! volleyball teams played in Marathon. Schreiber emerged victorious with scores as follows: - Schreiber I5 - Terrace Bay I0; Schreiber I5 - Terrace Bay 9. This win made the Schreiber team winners of the Western Division, which involved competition with Geraldton, Nip Rock, Schreiber and Terrace Bay. They are pictured below with the Al McDonald trophy, which is awarded to the winners of the Western Division, In competition with Marathon, who won the Eastern Division trophy, Schreiber lost with scores as follows: ~ Marathon 15 = [Schreiber I0; Marathon I5 - Schreiber Li, Members of the Team are: Albert Cadieux, Bill Collinson, Tony Commisso, Albert Courtemanche, Frank Figliomeni, Carson Fischer, Dan McGrath, Pat McParland, Michael Spadoni, Marc Tremblay and Ken Turner. APPRECIATION The Senior Boys' Volleyball Team would like to extend their appreciation to the cheerleaders and other Schreiber High School supporters. We needed all the support we could get, and it played an important part in our winning the trophy. Once again, we thank ymu for the marvelous support. J. Goodchild who spent several weeks at Pays Plat has returned to Heron Bay. Mr, and Mrs. W. Gillman of Detroit motored here- during the week,
