PAGE 12 TERRACE BAY NEWS NOVEMBER 12, 1970 Women of the Moose Meeting - cont'd from page 11 Raffle was won by Ann Todesco. Mrs. Eddie Belliv- eau was not present to win Pot of Gold so it was carried to be drawn at next meeting. A lovely lunch was served by Lois McRae and her committee of Vi Fedorak, Alice Werzynski and May Caldwell . ST. MARTIN'S SCHOOL UNICEF CANVAS Because of the "trick-or-treat" generosity of the people of Terrace Bay, many children in the under- developed areas of the world will benefit from UNICEF's services. Although less than half of the pupils at St. Martin's School participated in the UNICEF Canvas, they still collected $160.00 to send to the Canadian UNICEF Committee in Toronto. The pile of coins collected by the pupils must have caused a shortage of pennies in Terrace Bay. To get these coins back into circulation, the accum= ulated cash was taken to the local bank. The tellers were greeted with 99 pounds of pennies !!! The total came to slightly under $160.00, but the staff of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce generously contributed the difference to round off the sum. To the bank staff, to the youngsters who donated their time and to all who donated their money, children all over the world say "Thank You"! AXEL BERNDTSSON RETIRES A. ELECTION OF TRUSTEES THE LAKE SUPERIOR BOARD OF EDUCATION The education of our young people is one of the most important functions of our society. It also takes up a major part of the tax monies raised for all purposes. The Lake Superior Board of Education must have. as its policy makers and watch dogs of the public purse, fourteen dedicated citizens genuinely inter- ested and involved in the task of providing as good an educational opportunity of our young people as can be with available resources. It involves consid= erable time and effort, far beyond the traditional idea of a meeting once or twice per month. Some of the present trustees find that they can- not carry on and, as a result, new blood is being sought . If you feel that your trustees have done a good job, nominate them and come to the polls to support them. If you are dissatisfied with their effort, then by all means attend the nomination meet ings being held on November 23rd from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. fo support other candidates (why not yourself as a candidate?). Provided as a public service, The Lake Superior Board of Education. NOTICE Mr. Don Aedy, Optomitrist will be in Terrace Bay on November 18th and 19th. For an appointment, please call Mrs. S.
