Ter- race Bay seemed to falter halfway through the second period and they took a lot of foolish penalties and were completely out hustled by the Mercs, -and wound up on the short end of a 6-4 score. Scoring for Terrace Bay were Simmer with two and K. Gorman and R. MacKenzie with one each. J. Stout led the Merks with two goals and singles went to Duzay, Dumas, Paynor and Blanch. In the penalty department Terrace Bay had sixteen minors and two majors while the Merks took fourteen minors and one major. Next home game is Thursday, November 12 with the Schreiber North Stars the visitors. Come out and support our Junior Superiors. WORTHY MATRON AND PATRON INSTALLATION Arnold McKechnie were installed | Mr. and Mrs. as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron, of Silver Birch Chapter, 264 Order of the Eastern Star, following the regular meeting. Mrs. Edna Beddard, P.M. was the installing Matron. C.W.L. MONTHLY MEETING On Sunday, November 8th the Catholic Women's League held their regular monthly meeting in St. Martin's Parish Hall. The meeting opened with League Prayers and the Conveners gave their reports. Mrs. A. Beaulieu reportedon the Penny Auction held in October and President, Mrs. Mary Dashkew- ytch thanked the ladies on their work and the success of it. It was decided that a Christmas Bake sale will be held in December, convened by Mrs. A. Connors. Also a Christmas party for League members will take place some time in December, convened by Mrs. L. Fournier. The President asked if anyone, having good used hockey equipment, would bring it to the Church and it will be sent to the Indian children in the Red Lake Mission. The meeting ended with the Rosary. Following the meeting Mrs. N. McGurie (Diocesar] Convener for Christian Family Life) gave a workshop in Vocations. Members of Holy Angels Council were invited to attend and Mrs. Margaret Roberts introduced and welcomed the ladies from Schreiber. Father Cano and Father Gvora were present to help answer questions. The talk was most interesting and stressed that Vocations are fostered in the environment of a good home life with loving par- ents. Children should be taught to respect and back the Priests up, as teachers, leaders, shepherd and Distributor of the Sacraments. Sisters are dedicated to a life of service to God. Mrs. Marg Roberts thanked Mrs. McGurie and the Schreiber ladies for coming to the meeting. A lovely lunch was served by Mrs. S. Sadowick and her committee. CHRISTMAS PARTY SCHEDULED FOR DEC. 20th. Women of the Moose Chapter 1426 held their monthly meeting on November 4th with Senior Regent, Alice Yates presiding. Mrs. Betty Sweet was welcomed as a guest. Minutes of the previous meeting and executive meeting were read by recorder Sadie Benko. Report was read from co-worker Camille Todesco on the convention she attended in Windsor on October 8,9, | and 10th. - Two minutes silence was observed in honour of Remembrance Day. " Social service, Ann Todesco reported distributing two boxes of clothing to needy families. The Kiddies Christmas party to be held on Decem= ber 20th with chapter helping the lodge with the party and will serve coffee and donuts to mothers. All members agreed to let mothers of Grade 8 Public School use kitchen to sell donuts and coffee at the bingo on November 26th. Cont'd page 12 ....c..t..
