ROSSPORT TOWN TOPICS The driftwood centrepiece of- fered by the Altar Society as a door prize at a project was won by Mrs. Arthur Moorey. Mr. and Mrs. Peter King and Scott, Chapleau, spent the Thanksgiving weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gerow, Ross- port. Mr. and Mrs. A. Lavoie, Chelmsford, Ont., motored to Rossport on their vacation. Ernie Ukrainec, Fort William, a former Rossport resident, vis- ited recently, renewing former acquaintances. Mrs. Mary MacDonald, Miss Miller and Emile Seppala, all of Thunder Bay, were in the village to help Mr. Seppala's son, Toi celebrate his birthday. George Bruley and party de- parted for home with their moose shot in this area. Mr. and Mrs. Felix Legault are holidaying with relatives in Fort Frances and Thunder Bay. Peter Legault was home from Thunder Bay over the weekend with his parents. "THE OWL'S HOOT" THOUGHT OF THE WEEK It is important that people know what you stand for; it is equally important that they know what you won't stand for. UNIVERSITY EVENING Wednesday, October 14th, a University Evening was held at Schreiber High School for the benefit of students, parents and interested citizens of Rossport, Schreiber and Terrace Bay. Fourteen Ontario Universities were represented by at least one secondary school liaison officer. It is the job of these representatives to inform all interested parties concerning the opportunities and programs available at their particular university. The depart= ment of University Affairs, which issues Student Loans, was also represented. : The program was divided into three sessions, allow ing the student to attend as many as three different. universities' presentations. The sessions were mostly very informal, with free discussion between the re- presentatives and the students. The entire evening proved to be interesting, infor- mative and enjoyable to those who attended. At the conclusion of the program, coffee was served by the Home and School Association, to whom we continued on page 19.......
