Mr. and Mrs. H. Gellert, Danny and Donna, spent the weekend in Kapuskasing with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Reid. Mrs. Pearl Rattray of Sudbury is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. George Gordon. David Drake has returned after attending a mee- ting in Toronto of the Ontario Youth and Recrea- tion Association which is oponsored by the Depart- ment of Education. Lionel McCuaig of Dawson Creek, B.C. is visiting relatives and old friends. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sisson are visiting the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Forest Neil in Guelph. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur LeBlanc have returned from a holiday in Eastern Ontario, visiting in Lon- don with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kent(their daughter Teresa) and in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Clemens are visiting re=- lations in Wiarton. Linda Walker was home from Thunder Bay for the holiday visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walker, recently moved back to Schreiber from Manitouwadge . The Artificial Ice Fund will hold social nights in the Town Hall at 8 p.m. as follows: = October 22, November 6-19, and December 3rd. Among the holiday visitors in town, all with relatives were Lenore Campbell, of Hearst; Brian Bailey, of Deep River; June Small, of Toronto, David Borutski, Cos (Butch)Speziale of London; Mrs. Henry Davis and Linda Ross of Thunder Bay. Mrs. Cyril Sparkes, Mrs. Reg Bailey, Mrs. Jack Winters and Mrs. Ralph Morrill attended the Anglican Deanery meeting in Marathon. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Roman, en route from Vancouver to Halifax, visited Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Morrill and other relatives here. Golin McGrath of Barrie's Bay, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan McGrath and Mr. and Mrs. Pat O'Brien of Eganville, visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose McGrath. The Schreiber Arts and Crafts Club have set their regular meeting nights for Monday, evening from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Catholic Parish Centre. Membership for the season is set at $1.00 whether one or more meetings are attended. Men, women and teenagers are invited to attend. A course in upholstering will be given in October by Gary Drake. In November centrepieces and gifts will be made. For further information call 824-2613. Plans were completed, at the October meeting of the Catholic Women's League, for the Mother and Daughter Banquet, on October 21st. A wreath for Remembrance Day, was ordered from the Canadian Legion and will be laid by Mrs. George Cataford. An invitation was received from Rev. E.C. Prinselaar to attend the religious dialogue sessions which are being resumed in St. Andrew 's United Church. The Catholic Girls' Club reported they are now taking orders for Christmas cards and cards for other occasions. Mrs. Arthur Moore presided for the meeting, Mrs. M.J. McGrath read the minutes and correspondence, Mrs. Borden Ross gave the financial report and Mrs. Alex Power read the Scripture selection. A coffee hour followed the meeting. FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR GEORGE SMITH The funeral of the late George James Smith, whose death occurred in Thunder Bay on October 10th was conducted in St. Andrew's United Church in Schreiber on October 13th by Rev. E.C. Prinselaar, with Mrs. George Lengyel as organist The honorary pall bearers were Joe Campbell, Jack Phillips, Walter Wilkes, H.P. Bourguignon, Tom Bolan and Harry Welbourne. Active pall bearers were Tom McCuaig, Jim Mc- Cuaig, Roy Payette, Leonard Payette, Gordon Birch, all grandsons, and Arthur Huard. Interment was in Schreiber cemetery. Mr. Smith is survived by one daughter, Florence, Mrs. Leo Payette and thirty-one grandchildren. He was predecesased by his wife in 1966 and by two daughters in 1968. Mr. Smith who was eighty-six years old, was born in Birmingham, England and came to Schreiber in 1902 cont'd page 16 «es es een
