PAGE 16 TERRACE BAY NEWS OCTOBER 8, 1970 ONTARIO SCHOLARS Susan Graham and Norma Walker, who received their Secondary School Honour Graduation Diplomas in June have been awarded Ontario Scholarships. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must obtain at least 80% in grade 13 subjects, totalling seven credits. Congratulations are extended to Susan and Norma, who have received an Ontario Scholar Diploma and an award of $150.00. Susan is currently attending {SCHREIBER TOWN TOPICS Delegates from the local association attending the N.D.P. convention in Toronto are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gerow, Alex Krystia, John Spillane, Clem Downey and Jack Stokes, M.P.P. with Mrs. Stokes. Mrs. George Legault of Montreal is here to be 1 with her father, when Mr. Bryson celebrates his 84th birthday on October 9th. Mr. and Mrs. E.D. McPhail, of Carberry, Man. are visiting old friends here = Mr. McPhail is a former bank manager of Schreiber. Michael Smilsky is visiting relatives in Hamilton. Mrs. Pat LeBlanc of Thunder Bay is visiting her son Arthur and family, and other relatives and friends this week. John Patterson, has come to replace F.J. Koehn, who has been transferred to western lines, as C.P.R. supt. in Schreiber. Mr. and Mes. Patterson have two children, Catherine 12 and Billy 7, already involved in affairs in the public school. Mr. Patter- son came from Toronto to Schreiber, originally a westerner, serving the engineering department of the company . : SHOWER-TEA HONOURS MISS NEEDHAM | Waterloo University and Norma, Lakehead University} Miss Noreen Needham was honoured by friends at a shower tea held in St. John's Church hall on Sunday evening, September 27th, when her mother Mrs. Richard Needham and Mrs. Frank McKenna assisted in receiving. Servitors were the Misses Donna McGrath, Lola Scott, Cathy Stokes, Linda Bennitz, Ginny May, Billie Ann Weaver, Rosemary McParland and Dale Sisson. Mesdames John Power, Alex Power, Bill Mullins, Della Moore and Harry Prescott replenished. The gifts were opened by Anne Marie McGrath and Linda Power and Sheila and Anita Power were in charge of the guest book. = A most successful tea and bake sale was given by the auxiliary to Pinewood Court on September 30th in the town hall. Tea was poured by Mesdames JeSe Caccamo, Harold Fischer, Harold McParland and R.B. Spadoni. Servitors were Mesdames Ken Davis, Russell Mac- adam, Alvin Slater, Wesley Clemens, Edwin Holmes, Alec Gordon, John Spillane, Walter Dukes, Wesley Miller, Jim Gray, Nelson Smith, Oscar Niemi, and Albert Morris. Mrs. Bernice Jacomb sold door prize tickets = the prize cake won by Mrs. Jim Gray and Mrs. Frank Fummerton sold membership tickets. The draw prize was won by Mrs. Gus Krause . SCHREIBER DETACHMENT O.P.P. PRESS RELEASE There were no reports of Thefts or Break and Enters this past week. Several windows have been broken by vandals at the Schreiber Public School during the night of September 27, 1970. Parents are urged once again to have their children at home as soon as the neurfew Siren" is heard. If children are found loitering around after the curfew, they will be warned and any subsequent notice will result in the parent and child being summonsed to Family Court. A number of complaints have been received of children assaulting other children on the way home from school . This practise must be discontinued forthwith. This type of offence can also bring the parent and child before a Judge in Family Court. Parents are asked to teach their children to play in harmony . continued page 17 iT.
