An essessment was made of the summer programme on the basis of written reports which had been submitted and further details given by those responsible. The swimming programme attracted most attention and a letter from the Red Cross Examiner went into detall outling possible improvements in the programme. The Examiner stated i his letter that: "the source of the problems plaguing the Schreiber swim progremme cannot be attributed to one isoleted factor, but is the result of seversl variables'. He then submitted suggestions which mey lesd to en improvement of the overall programme end higher rate of achievement in the Awards. It was stated in the letter and bears repeating that: "the Awards only serve as an incentive to achieve e goal. The objective of a Red Cross Swimming programme is to produce safe, competent swimmers," Tt was mentioned that a combination of the short duretion of the programme snd part time instruction has produced the high failure rete, It was suggested that the Schreiber Parks and Recreation Committee attempt to hire a full time in- gtructor, whose duties include not only instructing hut lif e- guarding es well, allowing students to practice under super- vision outside the regular hours of instruction, Certein improvements of the besch area were suggested involving the physical facilities such as es dock, guerd chair and merkers. A copy of the letter wes forwarded to the Kinsmen group of Schreiber with thanks from'the Committee for the splendid service rendered by that organization. Fell activities were discussed including the Figure skating program. Mrs, F., Bryson informed the Committee that en instructor would be hired for four hours per week. Mr, CG. Suggestions were re- ceived with regerds to other forms of entertainment and the Secretary was asked to write the manager of Fort William Gerdens regarding availability of some entertainers on their way through this area.. C.P.T.A. HOLD MEETING Gary Speck, of the school staff, introduced the new teachers at Holy Angels Separate School at tlie regular September meeting of their C.P.T.A. Mrs. Michael Kulmatycki was appointed to act as chairman of several committees named as follows with their individual convenors: = Mrs. John Paul Gauthier-publicity; Mrs. Hartley McKay=-program;: Mrs. Yvon Beauparlant and Mrs. C.R. Duffy-lunch. Father Cano gave a talk on catechism = "Come To The Father." Anthony Speziale gave a report on the progress of the playground. Bill Campbell presided for the meeting, the minutes read by Mrs. Michael Reid and the treasurer's report given by Mrs. Gerald Godin.
