The request was granted. The Building Inspector's report stated that per= mits had been issued in the amount of $38,150. The Fire Department noted there had been no fires in July, and regular fire practice was held. Mr. Roy Bray discussed the possibility of putting a sign near the Aguasabon Gorge warning visitors to lock their cars before going to view the gorge, as items have been stolen from unlocked cars. Mr. Al Allen asked about the possibility of widening the end of Hudson Drive near the Island View Station, where it meets the highway, as this created a bottleneck at the time of shift change. The Labor Day Dance, which is sponsored by the local union, came up for discussion. Council strongly recommended that someone be posted at the door to keep minors out. The Union and Council urge parents to remind their children who are under 21 that they are not allowed fo enter the arena, and will be asked to leave if they do so. At the last sitting of Family and Juvenile Court, two cases were withdrawn at the request of the Crown Attorney. One case of suicide was investi- gated, and the body released by Coroner Dr. Adey. Four salesmen were ordered to leave town, as they had no license to sell magazines. Two gas pumps were damaged at the Texaco station during the night. Three family disputes were settled amicably. Windows were broken in the rear porch of the High School principal's home. A disturbance 'was quelled at the Roxy Theatre. The owner did not lay charges. Two bicycles were stolen and recovered later in the month. One car was robbed of a sum of money while occupants were viewing the Gorge. Gas hoses at three gas stations were punctured during the night. Two doors were found to be open during night check . Motor cyclists have been warned that there will be no loitering around the Recreation Centre after closing hours. Overmature trees may decrease in useable volume each year because more rot than sound wood is being formed. 7C
