CURLING POSTCRIPTS The ladies walked in where the men feared to tread, When the girls decided to take on the promotion of a mixed bonspiel as the season's grand finale, the Elements had no choice but to comply with their wishes. Forthwith, all warm weather was held in abeyance for exactly one week while the girls held their event, Sixteen rinks were signed up for a perfect draw and it was done predominately on a man and wife basis, with two couples making up a rink. And who won? A couple of newcomers named Wellings were winning skip and third (Jack and Peg, if you haven't gotten around to meeting them yet.) Scotty and Mar] Hemilton were the winning second and lead -- a competent mixed rink on anybody's ice. It was no sacrifice of prestige, there- fore, to come in runner-up on the win side, These honours fell to the Allen-Gross rink, Nels and Ev Allen were skip and third, Johnny and Molly Gross were second and lead. On the consolation bracket, Sinkins - Anderson beat Jessop - McKay. Al and Aggie Sinkins (skip and third) had to close the season with a win, or else how could their kids, Don and Betty Anderson (second and lead) be expected to show proper respect to their elders for the rest of the year? John and Betty Jessop and Doris and Ken McKay turned in a good performance, but it wasn't quite good enough, Now that these important matters have been settled, the Ladies will now permit spring to return. A number of good challenge matches have been run off in the past few days. One of the most interesting was between the Olsen All-Stars (Latour 3rd, Hamilton 2nd and West lead) and Monteith's Whizz Kids, (MacDonald 3rd, McLeod 2nd and DeLong lecd). Just to show it wasn't all a big mistake earlier this season, the Kids dusted off the Olsen rink, and were properly rewarded in the usual manner. Olsen was last heard to remark "I let the boys down", Modesty becomes the old Viking. Again we will move to stack the brooms and rack the rocks, in preparation for that unbearably long summer coming up. 0-0-0 SHOE REPAIR HOURS From April lst till the 9th, the Shop will be open during evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. 0-0-0 GOOD HOUSEKEEPING. ..IS ALWAYS IN SEASON Page 3 LADIES' BOWLING Stendings to Date Big 5 (Averages) Misfits 10 1.
