t 5 ~ PAGE 14 SCHREIBER 25TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED Mr. and Mrs. Harold McParland held an open reception Saturday evening in honor of their 25th wedding anniversary, welcoming their many friends _and relatives who dropped in to celebrate this special occasion. Their home was beautifully decorated with flowers and the table covered in a lace cloth centered with an anniversary cake surrounded by many gifts. The McParland children served the guests.and they are - Patricia'and husband Len Godin, Barrie, Ont.; John and wife Paula of Thunder Bay; Denis of Dryden; Rose Mary, Colleen, Kathleen, Susan, Laura, Jimmy, Lawrence and Maureen circulated the guest book. Kitchen replenishers were Mrs. Leona Fournier, Terrace Bay and Mrs. Liane Beauparlant. Father Roy McParland of Sault Ste. Marie and brother of Mr. McParland came for this special occasion and said Mass for the family at 4.30 p.m. Prior to the party a family dinner was held at restaurant LeBlanc. RUBY REBEKAH MEETING Ruby Rebekah Lodge meeting was held on May 13 with Noble Grand, Mrs. Chris Morris and Vice- Grand Mrs. Beth Macadam presiding. VG reported sending cards and flowers to sick and bereaved members as well as farewell gifts to members who have moved to Thunder Bay. Several members were visited. Mrs. Helen D'Arcy gave the financial report of the C.P.T. committee and informed members their books had been audited. An invitation was received from Agate Rebekah Lodge in Thunder Bay, to their spring tea in the Credit Union Hall, May 2\st. A Memorial service for departed members will be held on June 14th at 7 o'clock in the Anglican . Church. Schreiber Oddfellows Lodge are also in- vited to this service. Initiation will be held at the meeting on May 27th All members of the degree team are asked to attend the practice on Tuesday May 26th. Members agreed to have a "Bring and Buy" sale table at the next meeting. Each person may bring baking or an arti- cle and put their own price on it. The Noble Grand thanked her for her good work which was greatly appreciated by the lodge. After the meeting the ladies were entertained by Harold Shack who showed slides of Nassau where he spent a year teaching. After a question and answer period, lunch was served by the Social Committee. ¢ A.C.W. MONTHLY MEETING Regular meeting of Anglican Church Women was held Tuesday, May 12th in the Church Hall with President, Mrs. Hazel Bailey, opening the meeting with Prayer. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Mrs. Inga Ellacott and Mrs. Flora Bryson gave the treasurer's report. r A letter was received from Mrs. Olive Ross of Algoma Church Women, thanking members for attend- ing the conference of the Anglican Church Women of Diocese of Algoma in Thunder Bay May 5th and 6th, which Mrs. Eirene Harness gave a very interesting report on all discussions and activities that took place. Mrs. Ross also stated that Rita Dyer of Marathon would be going to British Honduras to do overseas work, the first time a person from this district would go on this mission. Mrs. Ross also told members the deanery meeting would be delayed until October when Mrs. Wauss would come to discuss integration. A letter is to be sent to Gilmour Beattie, District Secretary of the Canadian Bible Society stating time and place of the meeting in the Anglican Church Hall May 26th. Mr. Beattie will speak and there will be films. The members decided they would not cater during July and August. There will be a pot luck supper at the June meeting. Members will be notified of time later. The meeting was adjourned with the A.C.W. Prayer and Mrs. Flora Bryson hostess for the evening served lunch. MOTHERS HONORED AT W.1. MEETING Mrs. Wesley Clemens presided at the Women's Institute inaugural meeting for new officers Tuesday, May 12th in the town hall.
