DISTRICT DEPUTY VISITS REBEKAHS Mrs. R.L. Ditmars, D.D.P., District 41, Rebekah Assembly, paid her official visit to Ruby Rebekah Lodge at their regular meeting on April 22nd. She was introduced by Mrs. Mary Husband, P.N. - and welcomed by Mrs. Chris Morris, Noble Grand. Other guests welcomed included Mrs. W. Stan- ford, P.N.G. Amethyst Lodge, Mrs. Lois Davis, Sapphire Lodge, Mrs. Annie tlack, Greenstone Lodge, Mrs. Madge Ailey, P.D.D.P. of District Al, Mrs. Rose Rogers, P.N.G. of Amethyst Lodge, all of Thunder Bay. Mrs. Jean Fischer reported on the district meeting which she and Mrs. Helen Wallace attended on April 17. Mrs. Helen D'Arcy reported a penny auction sponsored by the C.P.T. committee was most suc- cessful . A donation of $10.00 was made to the Canadian 'Cancer Association. It was announced the local Parks and Recreation committee are holding a special meeting to which the public are invited when the guest speaker will be Mr. A. Moss, his address to be on the dangers of drug addiction, which has become a serious problem. The place, date and time of the meeting will be announced later. Mrs. Ditmars gave a lengthy report of her year's work and thanked the Lodge for their hospitality. the noble grand presented a gift to Mrs. Ditmars and other visitors spoke briefly. - An: invitation was received from the local 1.0.0.F. to attend a special meeting on May 8th when guest speakers will be P.V. Ibbetson and G. Burns . Mrs. Russell Macadam, V.G-. gave an account of the month's sick visiting done. Initiation ceremonies were held for twe candi- dates, directed by Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, who was also the soloist, accompanied by Mrs. A. Bryson. Interesting slides on Nassau by Harold Shack, will be shown at the next meeting. Following this lunch will be served by the following committee: Mesdames Ida Krause (convenor), Marg. Kragero, Mary Legault, Iris Lidkea, Claire Madge and Verna Linkewich. ; At the close of this meeting, visitors and members enjoyed a social hour when Mrs. Mary Husband's committee served lunch. TERRACE BAY NEWS __ - r APRIL 30, 1970 Mrs. Wesley Clemens, president of the Schreiber Women's Institute will be in Guelph to attend a W.I. Officers' conference on April 28 - 30, at*the University there. Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Cocks will hold an open reception on May 2nd in the town hall from 7 - 12, in honor of their daughter Billie Ann, whose mar- riage to Russell Saarinen takes place that day in' Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church. Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Wallace had the former's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. A.B.(Bubs) Wallace of North Bay visit them last week. Mrs. Lorne O'Driscoll of Sudbury is here visiting her father, Sanford Chicoine, who is in Terrace Bay Hospital . Vic Hannam of Ottawa visited old friends in town this week. Burton Phillips is in McKellar Hospital, Mrs. Russell Weaver in St. Joseph's Hospital and Sam Chicoine in the General Hospital - all in Thunder Bay. Mrs. Mary Valentino was taken by ambulanc to Terrace Bay Hospital . Mrs. Leonard Huard was given a surprise baby shower in her own home on April 23. The party was arranged by former telephone operators here while Mrs. Huard was chief operator . Bingo was played for small baby gifts which were later presented by Mrs. Earl Welbourne, along with a high chair heaped with larger presents. Those attending included; Mesdames Art Parent, Jerry Thrower, Bill Webb, Ralph Morrill, Eddy Nesbitt, Louise Guillet, Barry Harper, David Nesbitt and Miss Edith Clemens. HOCKEY TROPHIES PRESENTED AT DINNER The junior hockey club was given a turkey dinner in the Canadian Legion, the meal provided by mothers of the players and other enthusiastic supporters. It was served by members of the Legion Auxiliary and some of the mothers. "Reeve Fred Harness was an honoured guest. Among the awards presented were trophies to Stanley Spadoni, most valuable player; Bob Hiller and Paddy McKenna, most improved players; Bill Hiller, Dave Bailey and Bob Webb for 20 and over goals scored.
