PENNY AUCTION HELD BY LEGION LADIE'S The Ladie's Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 223, Terrace Bay held a very sucessful Penny Auction and card party, in the Legion Hall on Sunday evening. Co-convenors were Mrs. R. Dakin and Mrs. P. Rochon assisted by Mrs. C. Mercier and Mrs. J. St Louis. Lunch was served by Mrs. S. Ballentine and her committee. JOE MARCELLA HONORED BY SCHOOL Mr. Joe Marcella, Sr., who retired recently as Custodian of St. Martin's Separate School, was honoured on two occasions at dinner parties. The staff of teachers and secretary Mrs. Mary Dashkewytch, with Principal Mr. M. Anderson, took Mr. Marcella to dinner at Restaurant LeBlanc. Mr. Marcella was presented with a travel case. Then the school board of St. Martin's, of which Mr. Marcella was a long standing member, and Chairman of the Board at one time, entertained at a dinner at the Hotel Terrace, where they presented him with a Travel alarm clock. Mr. Marcella makes his home in Terrace Bay. He is presently travelling through eastern Ontario. MARTIN'S GRADE 8 RAFFLES SWEATER Grade 8 class of St. Martin's School are again raffling off a hand knit sweater made by Mrs. L. Legault, to help swell the fund for their proposed trip at school end. The tickets will go on sale soon and the draw will be made on May Ist. Tickets are reasonable and it is hoped that the people of Terrace Bay will again support these students in their en- deavor . SUCCESSFUL BRIDGE SPONSORED BY AUXILIARY A very successful Bridge and Whist party, spon- sored by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Community Church, was held at the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel on Wednesday evening. Co-convenors for the party were Mrs. D. Broad- hurst, Mrs. G. Soughton and Mrs. M. Lundberg. Two of the prizes were donated by Mrs. J.A.
