LEGION SPONSOR 2ND ANNUAL SNOWMOBILE RACES It was a beautiful day, when the twenty-four snow- mobiles lined up at the starting point for the second ; onnval Snowmobile Races, sponsored by the Roya! | Canadian Legion, Branch 223, Terrace Bay. Chairman for the event was Pat Jones, who with | his committee, lined up an exciting day for sports- ; men and spectators alike. The first race was a Cross country, approximately 1 20 miles, no horse power restrictions, and was won py Jan MacAdam, of Schreiber. Second was Bob Adamo, Terrace Bay, and third, Grant Solly; Terrace | Bay. The Ladies race, was won by Mrs. Lorraine Desaulniers, second, Mrs. Sharon Teskey, and third, Mrs. Ethel Boyd, all of Terrace Bay. | The third race, open to men and | ladies was won by Al Brennen, Nip- igon, second, Dennis Scowen, Mara- thon and R. Simpson, of Marathon came in third. The fourth race was won by D. Matheson, Marathon, second, P. Ladies of the Legion Auxiliary prepared hot lunche and snacks, and these were served both at the Legion hall, and the basement of the Masonic hall. Mrs. Ethel Boyd, acted as Treasurer, and Wayne Newell and George Churney were secretaries . Mickey McFadden, on behalf of Labatts Breweries presented the trophies, and also donated two trdphie to Tom Quinton of the Kool Kats of Schreiber and Carmen Brant of Snowmobile Club of Terrace Bay, ta be given out at a future event. Pat Jones would like to thank everyone on his committee, who worked so hard to make this annual event such a success. A dance was held in the evening, at the Masonic Hall basement, where a very good crowd danced to the music of Bill Megraw, George Churney and Len Pineault. TESTS HELD BY FIGURE SKATING CLUB On January 31, the Terrace Bay Figure Skating Club held Preliminary and First tests. Those who received the Preliminary tests were: Carolyn Vanderkam, Carla Crockford and The fifth was won by A. Jalkanen, Nipigon, second, C. Figliomeni, Schreiber and third Wayne Daley. Labatts Breweries donated trophies to all winners, and all the entry fees were handed out as prize money. Special crests were ordered by the Legion Branch to be given to all participants.
