TURKEY DINNER ENJOYED BY U.C.W. The United Church Women held their January meeting on the 7th beginning with a turkey dinner when their guest, the Rev. E.C. Prinselaar, pro- nounced Grace. Mrs. Frank Fummerton presided for the business meeting, with Mr. Prinselaar in charge of the de- votional period. Mrs. Bill Thrower presented the annual treasurer's report showing a most rewarding year for the associ- ation. Mrs. Henry Miller sent a cheque for church calendars sold. Rev. Prinselaar volunteered to conduct the mis- sion study at each regular meeting .- Mrs. Oscar Niemi gave the annual sewing comm- | ittee report, showing a most successful year, saying | the workers who meet each week, have turned this into an old-fashioned quilting party where sewing goes furiously along with humourous conversation. Among the standing committees appointed were Prinselaar, worship; Mrs. Niemi, sewing, with Mrs. John Spillane as knitting convener. Mrs. Spillane will also convene citizenship and social action; Mrs. Steve Petrushack, Mrs. Russell Macadam, and Mrs. Fummerton - posters Mrs. Russell Macadam will convene teas and Mrs. Fummerton, the dinner committee, assisted by Mrs. David Nesbitt, Mrs. Earl Holmes, Mrs. John Spillane and Mrs. Jim Gray. + After some discussion of the objective, members were in favour of joining with the Catholic Women's} League ina "Living Room Dialogue" course of six weeks to start during the latter part of January. The course was suggested by Mrs. Gerald Banning and the proposed time, every Wednesday, at p.m. was also acceptable. Following the meeting Mrs. Beth Macadam called! some bingo for a pile of small prizes and other lar- ger gifts exchanged by the members . Secretary, Mrs. Walter Dukes, was given a hearty vote of appreciation for her perfect roasting of the big turkey bought for the occasion. Among those recently returning to their homes, | after spending holidays here were Mr. and Mrs. ' P.Q. Tegel, to Beverwyke, the Netherlands, who : have been with Rev. and Mrs. Prinselaar.
