In extending then my personal greetings and good wishes to each and every citizen for a joyous Christmas and Happy and Prosperous New Year, | cannot help but add the sincere thanks of Mrs. Cavanaugh and myself for all the cour- tesies extended to us over the years. LAKE SUPERIOR BOARD OF EDUCATION REPORT The regular monthly meeting of the Lake Super- ior Board of Education was held in the Marathon High School on Monday, December 8th, 1969 at 7 p.m. Expenditures for the month of November amount- ing to $220,598.79 were approved. The Advisory Committee for the School for Trainable Retarded Children advised that there would be a Christmas party in the school on Thursday, December 18th, in the afternoon. The committee also reported that they were expect- ing a revision in the regulations whereby students under ten years of age could attend the school on a full day basis, instead of the present half day system. A proposed expenditure budget for the Trainable Retarded School in the amount of $22, 368.00 for 1970 received tentative approval . A delegation of interested citizens from Terrace Bay, with Mr. L.G. Waghorn as spokesman, pre- sented a brief suggesting the introduction of Grade 13 in the Terrace Bay High School. The matter was turned over to the Director for study. A testing program for possible candidates for classes in Special Education will be carried out in all communities. Mr. A.N. Chisholm, Chairman of the Board, presented a letter of resignation as Trustee effective the end of December which was received with regret. Mr. Chisholm stated that pressure of business meant that he was unable to carry out his duties as a Trustee to the extent that he felt was desirable. An attempt will be made to engage a full time teacher for the Marathon and Heron Bay Schools to carry out supply duties when staff members are away. Trustees were informed that a public meeting will be held in Rossport at the School on December. 9th to discuss the future of the Rossport school. Trustees were urged to attend. The Director was requested to prepare a booklet for distribution containing all policies of the Board. The next regular meeting of the Board will be held at 1.00 p.m., Saturday, January 17th, 1970 at the Schreiber High School. Home for the Christmas holidays this year are: Roger Rajotte from Qreens University, Kingston, Evelyn, from British Columbia, and Mr. and Mrs. Dawson (nee Elaine Rajotte); Lita Marie and Mark Boudreau, Steve Nickoluk and Jane West from Lake- head University; Ruth Soughton and Don Kennedy from Western University in London;.Brian Kennedy visiting his parents enroute to Edmonton; Bob Mc-, Millan from Cambrian College in Sault Ste. Marie; Diane Campbell from Teachers College in Thunder- bay; Joe Dorland from Thunder Bay Flying Club in Thunderbay, Bonnie Dorland visiting from Toronto; also Pat Dodge; Margaret Jean Wallwin from Winnipeg with Jane Kelty visiting with the Wallwins Rod Mercure from Toronto, and Bob Gould from Thundefbay . Miss Darlene Larson is home visiting her family from Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Terry Essex ( nee Holly Berndtsson) are with Mr. and Mrs. A. Berndtsson; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Roy (nee Carol) are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. K. McLeod; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Phillips of Brights Grove are visiting Mr. and Mrs. L. Phillips and Mr. and Mrs. H. Hamilton. Marilyn Marsh of the Lakehead Regional Schoo! of Nursing and friend, Mr. Bob Pressinger of Thunde bay, are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.N. Marsh for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. A.R.
