e NO CHAMBER PLANS IMPORTANT JANUARY MEETING pl ass ia a President S. Kolesar presided at the regular meeting of Terrace Bay Chamber of Commerce. held in the Rec- reation Centre last Thursday . Among the items of business discussed was a letter from the Ontario Highways Department regarding safe- ty of children crossing the highway. Several suggest- ions in this regard have been made over the past few years but to date no satisfactory solution has been found. A representative from the Department of Highways will be in Terrace Bay to attend the January meeting of the Chamber to discuss this subject. The meeting will be open to all interested persons and it is hoped that*there will be a good turn out. Date and time of the meeting will be announced later. A nominating committee headed by R. Sinotte will bring in a proposed slate of officers for the next meet- ing which is scheduled for 7.30 on Thursday, Decembe 11th in the Games Room of the Recreation Centre. This will be a general meeting and all members are urged to attend. A new member, A. Chisholm who represents Kimberly Clark Pulp and Paper Company Limited,was welcomed by the President. Another encouraging sign was the number of fans attending - around 450 of them. The Arena rang with their response to the efforts of the men on the ice. The game got off toa fine start at 2 p.m. and both teams looked pretty evenly matched right throught the first and second periods. By the end of the game, however, the Schreiber team's experience proved too much for the Terrace Bay boys and the total tally was 8 - 5 for the North Stars . Bailey of the North Stars was the big goal-getter He racked up four out of eight. As teams from these two towns again take to the ice the old friendly rivalry is again seen. Tempers run high and penalties are handed out but we're quite-sure that only in games within our own dis- trict do the players find fans who encourage their favorites so vociferously . es Another game is tentatively scheduled for next Sunday, but may be switched so watch the bulletin boards for further announcements and do plan to get out and support these teams.
