LEGION BRANCH 223 HOLD TALENT NIGHT Talent night at the Legion played to full house last Friday, when the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 223, with Mistress of Ceremonies Mrs. Jean- nette Gunter presented local talent to an enthusias- tic audience. Leading off with a sing-song, led by Audrey Smith the party got off to a good start. _ Sax Lundberg was the first contestant, playing "Those Were the Days" on the electric organ. Joe Kennedy and Pam Jones sang two selections, accom- panied by Bill Megraw on saxaphone and George Churney, accordion, and Len Pineault on the drums. Julie Rattray entertained with a piano solo, "In the Mood". The Army, Navy and Air Force, in uniforms look- ing as though they came from the first World War, were represented by Dorothy Ballentine, Mary Clare Kennedy, Dot Coupal, Dot Koski, Aldea Churney, and Joyce Mercier. They brought the house down wit '| their rendition of World War One Songs. | Jack Little, genial steward at the Legion, claimed the distinction of being the only paid entertainer of the group, as he. changed from his barman's coat to more suitable costume, and told jokes, as only Jack can. Pat Jones gave a rousing rendition of "O What a Lovely Bunch of Cocoanuts", enjoyed by the audience. : Next on the program were the orchestra, Bill Megraw, George Churney, Sax Lundberg and Len Pineault with the Lichenstein Polka. Howie Cook, playing his own accompaniment on the guitar, assisted by Len Pineault, also on guitar, sang Mansion on the Hill. - - George Churney played a solo on the mouth organ. Julie Rattray showed another talent she has, when she performed the Highland Fling, accompanied by George Churney.
