HALL-DENNIS CONFERENCE Dennis Report, the auspices of the Ontario Depart- ment of Education. Two praiseworthy books "Educa- tion or Molasses" by J. Daley and "Means and Ends in Education" were on sale. A luncheon at the Legion Hall followed, the delegates reconvened at 1.30 to meet the student panel. Chaired by Mr. A. Korkela, vice principal . of Marathon High School,the panel was comprised of Dennis Donahue of Manitouwadge, Linda Hanson of Marathon, Pat McParland of Schreiber, an Lorraine Belliveau of Terrace Bay. Each member of the panel presented his view on the aspect of education which he desired changed or improved. The floor was then opened for questions. The dele- gates indicated a keen interest in student views and the second group sessions were cancelled in favour of continued discourse with the student rep- resentatives. The conference ended on this high note of amiable student-educator relations. The four Federation Groups, Federation of Women Teachers Association of Ontario, Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association, Ontario Public School Men Teachers Federation, and Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation took advant- age of the attendance - cont'd page 15 ....... Under the direction of Mr. Morgan a professional development day devoted to the study of the Hall- Dennis Report was held October 8th. Marathon High School hosted the Conference which embodied the elementary and secondary school teachers of the Lake Superior Board and District Separate School Boards . Activities commenced with a general assembly in the gymnatorium where Mr. J.,Kelly,principal of Marathon High School welcomed the delegates and briefly outlined the agenda. Mr. E.J. Morgan, Director of Education for the Lake Superior School Board expressed his pleasure at having a conference within our own District and expected that this would be a precedent for future professional development days. Mr. A. Lawlor of Schreiber High School ,in- troduced the guest speaker, Dr. S.G.B. Robinson, whose speech appears in its entirety in this edition. | Mrs. Graham of Marathon thanked Mr. Robinson and presented him with a token of appreciation. The teachers dispersed into groups of twenty, for a half hour lively discussion of Mr. Robinson's speech. The groups returned to the gymnatorium where they viewed a film presentation of the Hall-
