PAGE 16 POLAR EXPEDITION FILM TO BE SHOWN The Schreiber Kook Kats, the local snow machine club, are holding their organization meeting, for this season, on October 8th at 7.30 p.m. in the United Church hall when election of officers will take place. All members and prospective ones are urged to attend. The film on the recent Polar Expedition will be shown. The year promises to be a banner one, with co-operation from the town recreation committee, and a recognition in the next Tourist Gazette. Plans will be made for a district meet, of some kind, in February. With sixty-five snow machines in town the club was gratified last year to have a membership of fifty- eight. The rates are most reasonable, with both single and family prices. It is expected this year to have an influx of members from Terrace Bay. The club crest, designed by Lorne O'Neil, local artist, is coveted because it is strictly representative of North Western Ontario, but it may only be bought by members . One fish derby last winter, the lake back north fdr the site resembled a winter carnival, with so many attending. 25TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED Mr. and Mrs. Vincenzo (Jimmy) Speziale were honored by their family at a party arranged on Oct. 2nd, their 25th wedding anniversary . The occasion began with a Mass in Holy Angel's Roman Catholic Church at 3 p.m. when they renewed their wedding vows and was followed by a dinner in the town hall attended by 150 relations. Messages were read from Mrs. Speziale's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jodouin, in Sturgeon Falls, and other relatives in Sudbury and other points, and many love- ly gifts of silver, and cheques were presented during 'the dinner. Later in the evening a dance was held, the crowd swelled by friends, and music supplied by the Midnight Hours. ' Mr. and Mrs. Speziale still have Mary, Ted and Dino at home with them, and another daughter, Rose, (Mrs. Gary Speck) lives in Schreiber. Their other daughter, Frances (Mrs. Frank Labarre) lives in Winnipeg. They have three grandchildren. CHARTER NIGHT SET FOR NOVEMBER _10TH Mrs. Gerald Banning presided for a meeting of the Association of Mentally Retarded on Oct. 5th in the United Church hall . Rev. T.G. Husser of Terrace Bay presented a program for Charter night on November 10th which > will be held in the Schreiber Town Hall at 8 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend this occasion. Mr.°E.G. Sharanopk chairman of Region Fourteen will give the address and will be accompanied by others from the Lakehead. Rev. Arthur Chabot is bringing a delagation from Marathon and Mrs. P. Delo a teacher will present a "School Day in the Life of a Retarded Child". Mr. Ferron, Northern Ontario Area Representative will present the Charter and will also bring a del- egation from North Bay. A film will be shown and a question and answer period held. The formalities will be followed by a reception when the officers will be happy to answer any further questions. MINOR HOCKEY MEETING A minor hockey meeting will be held in the basement 9f the Anglican Church on Friday Oct. 10th,at 7 p.m. ST. SCOTT HONORED ON 25TH Mr. and Mrs. G.A. (Short) Scott were honored at a party arranged by relations on Oct. 2nd,their 25th wedding anniversary . The occasion began with a dinner in Restaurant LeBlanc attended by twenty relations, when many informal toasts were proposed.
