ie : PAGE 4 15TH ANNUAL FLOWER AND VEGETABLE SHOW The Terrace Bay Horticultural Society presented their 15th Annual Flower and Vegeiable Show on August 23rd, in the Terrace Bay Arena. Mr. Walter Chomniak was the Judge, and commended the exhibitors on the excellence of their entries, -particularly the Junior Gardeners. The Aggregate Winner in the Junior Division was Veronica Hermes, who was presented with the Horticultural Society Shield, and a five dollar cash award. Winner of the Outstanding Exhibit Award was Craig Hiebert, who won the Growth Savings Certificate from the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. In the Gardens, senior division, ages 12 to 14 inclusive, Veronica Hermes placed first, and was presented with a cash award from the Pulp and Sulphite Paper Mill Workers Local Union 665. Maurice Cadieux came second winning the Loyal Order of Moose Award, and Debbie Kujbida took third with the Credit.Union Award. In the Junior Division Gardens, ages 8 to 11, Maria Hermes took the Local 665 Award, Helga Hermes second, Moose Award and Alan Dorland third, Credit Union. Grand Aggregate Winner with 29 prize winning entries in the Adult Class, was Mrs. Alice Farrow, who was presented with the Trophy donated by the Township of Terrace Bay. Mrs. Mildred Welsh was a close runner-up, with just four points less than the Aggregate Winner. The John Ferrier Award, which is presented to the person who has the highest aggregate points attained in the show by a beginner, went to Shirley Opas, who had 6 firsts, 3 seconds, and 6 thirds. The Door Prize was won by Mrs. H. Landry. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Vlado Kuran of Terrace Bay, a girl on August 28th. Born to Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Lemieux of Schreiber, a boy on September 2nd.
