_ AUGUST 27, 1969 SCHREIBER TOWN TOPICS L.R. McCuaig spent the weekend in Atikokan with Mr. and Mrs. Chal McCuaig. Ralph McCuaig of Toronto is visiting his grand- parents . - There will be a shower tea in the United Church hall on Thursday, August 28, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. in honor of bride-elect of Seiavertiber Judy Walker. Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Turner and Allan spent their vacation visiting in Victoria B.C. and Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Duncan, with Lorraine and Cathy, of Winnipeg, visited Mr. Duncan's father and other relations here this week. John and Bruce McLean of Ottawa are here camping at the lake and visiting friends in town. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Walker spent their holidays visiting in Thessalon and Sault Ste. Marie. Mr. and Mrs. G.F. Tremblay and family of Chapleau holidayed recently with Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Tremblay. Sister Mary Comerford of Pembroke has been visit- ing her sister, Mrs. Alex Power. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Miller are in Duncan, B.C. to attend the wedding of their son, Sherwin and Miss Diane Ash, on August 30. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Nesbitt of Schreiber will also attend the wedding. Sandra, Mike, Bonnie and Debbie Bourguignon spent their holidays visiting in turn with Mr.and Mrs. Leo Payette and Mr. and Mrs. Jim McCuaig, in Fort William, and Mr. and Mrs. Art Lucas in Port Arthur . Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Birch and family of Van- couver visited their many relations in the Birch and McCuaig families here last week en route to eastern Ontario. Gweneth Jones of Port Arthur has returned home after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Pat Bourguignon. Miss Edna McColeman, who has just received a second degree in nursing while attending univer- sity in Marquette, Mich., was here last week visiting her mother Mrs. Peter McColeman and other relations Mr. and Mrs. Tom McCuaig and Mr. and Mrs. Jim McCuaig with their families are here this*;week visiting among their relatives. Mulligan- Assistant Principal - Guidance; B.C. Stewart - Prin- |' cipal . Mrs. R.A. Turner was named chairman of the library board at its regular meeting of August 21. Mrs. Turner will act until January, filling the pos- ition left vacant by H.M. Ermel's resignation. The members were concerned about the number of books over-due and will consider means to have them returned. Word was received that the Regional conference is planned for October 3,4,and 5 and the librarian and two trustees will be sponsored to attend. The travelling book display will be in Schreiber on Monday September 15, from 1 to 5 ( daylight saving time) so it was agreed to have local members gather for their selection from 2 - 4 Schreiber time. Ted Hill was paid for the work already done in rearranging bookshelves and will finish the remaining ones shortly. Mrs. Andrea Hill, librarian, made several suggest- ions which will be considered by the board. A letter of appreciation was:sent to Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tripp for a donation of books. A conference takes place among the tots enjoying the summer playground school held this year at Holy Angel's Separate School . The five weeks' course was held daily from Monday through Friday from 9 to 12 each morning, the program covering action learning games, singing games, some craft work and much time for free expression in various art forms. The closing day exercises program was attended by parents.
