PAGE 15 ROSSPORT MARTIN - ACKNEEPINESKUM WEDDING St. Jerome's Roman Catholic Mission Church, Pays Plat was the scene of a summer wedding Saturday morning at eleven o'clock when Angela Achneepin- eskum elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Achne- epineskum became the bride of Gilbert Martin of Nipigon son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Martin. Rev. Father Maurice S.J. officiated at the double ring ceremony. The Rossport Junior Choir was in attendance and Miss Maxine Hubelit was organist. The bride, given in marriage by the groom's brother Dominic chose a full-length gown of eggshell silk crepe and nylon lace with neckline, bodice and lace panels. in the full skirt edged with white sequins and crystals. They also were on the headpiece that held her bouffant illusion veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink sweetheart roses and fern. She wore the groom's gift of a single strand of pearls. The bride's only sister, Mrs. Cathy Bouchard was her attendant. She wore a sleeveless A-line cock- tail length dress in Capri Blue nylon lace over taf- feta with a matching lace mantilla and white acces- sories. Flower girl Anna Bain (groom's neice) had a floor length dress of white boucle trimmed with white sequins a large white bow in her hair and white kid sandals. They both carried Colonial nosegays of lilies of the valley. The groom was attended by Gerry Bouchard. The wedding breakfast was at Mr. and Mrs. J. Bouchard's home. Father Maurice said grace and Brother O'Mara proposed a toast to the bride to which the groom responded. A reception was held at the home of the groom's neice, Mrs. Walter Gerow in Rossport. The bride's mother chose a navy blue coat dress with white ac- cessories for her daughter's wedding. Mrs. Dominic Martin receiving for the groom wore a pearl grey silk knitted suit and white accessories. Both had white carnation corsages. The groom's neice Mrs. N. Bain cut the wedding cake and serving the buffet lunch were Mrs. W. Gerow, Mrs. N. Bain, Mrs. Hogan and Mrs. J. Gerow. The table was centered with an arrangement of pink roses and fern. The couple left for a short honeymoon at the Lake- head and will reside at Pays Plat. Out of town guest included Mrs. Joan Hogan, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Haskell, Lawrence Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Morriseau of Nipigon, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Martin of Schreiber, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence TERRACE BAY NEWS LAST SCHOOL BOARD MEETING LIBRARY CLOSES JULY 9,1969 Brady of Fort William, Glen Martin of Winnipeg, Ray Griemnelt and David Carnochan of Manitouwadge The last meeting of the Rossport Public School Com- mittee board was held Friday. The school board was the only form of municipal government the village had and this was severed at the end of June when all keys to the school were turned in to the Regional board. Chairman Anne Todesco stated that in future there wouldn't be the close association with the school and teachers as in the past. Petty cash will be handled by the teachers in future. Principal, Mrs. Price notified the board that the regional board would -- re-roof the school and build cement entranc steps. She also announced that she received a 3400. dollar increase from the new board. Mrs. Todesco commented on the high standard of school equipment the best since the new building was opened. It was noted that there are close to a thousand library books for the pupil's use, over six hundred text book plus much other equipment. It was noted that the bus driver, janitor and main- tenance man will continue their respective work in conjunction with the school. The Board adjourned with pleasant reminders of accomplished improvements at the school and having worked in close harmony with the teacher, rate payers and each other. BLACK WOLF SHOT AT ROSSPORT Robert Wesley of Pays Plat was awakened at 5 p.m. recently by the cries and whimpering of his smal! pup. On investigating, he found a large black wolf trying to get the puppy out of its small dog house. His son Tommy shot the wolf with a 22 rifle. It measured close to three feet high and five and a half feet long. and weighed 200 pounds. Tommy and his brother William re-traced its tracks along the railway for some distance before they lost them in the dense brush. Mr. Wesley claims that it was a black Siberian wolf. A Centennial project, the community library, closed its doors the end of June as librarian Mrs. Joyce Yandon expects to leave the community this fall and owner of the property Mrs. Hattie Yandon | has sold it. Rossportites lost a convenience that wil! | be greatly missed especially during the long winter. |
