NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that application been made for approval to expropriate the land described in the schedule hereto. Any owner of lands in respect of which thé objectives of the expropriating e the approving authority in writing, (a) in the case of a registered owney, served personally or by registered mail within thirty s after he is served wit the notice, or, when he is served publication, within thirty days after the first publicétion of the notice; {b) in the case of an owner who ig not a registered owner, within thirty days after the firat publication of the notice THE APPROVING AUTHORITY IS Minister of Highways, Ontario Parliament Buildings, Toronto 5, Ontario Minister of Highways, Ontario H.F. Gilbert, 'Superintendent of Properties. NOTES: I. The Expropriations Act 1968-69 provides that, (a) where an inquiry is requested, it shall be conducted by an inguriy officer appointed by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General; (b) the inquiry office, (1) shall give every party to the inquiry an apportunity to present evidence and argument and to examine and cross-ex- amine witnesses, either personally or by his counsel or agent, and (44) may recommend to the approving authority that a party t the inquiry be paid a fixed amount for his costs of the in- quiry not to exceed $200 and the approving authority may in its discretion order the expropriating authority to pay such costs forthwith 2. "owner" and "registered owner" are defined in the Act as follows: "Owner" includes a mortgagee, tenant, execution creditor, a person entitled to a limited estate or interest in land, o committee of the estate of a mentally incompetent person or of a person incapable of managing his affairs, and a guard- ian,executor, administrator or trustee in whom land is veste vested; : "Registered owner" means/an owner of land whose interest in the land is defined and whose name is specified in an instru ment in the proper registry, land titles or sheriff's office and includes a person shown as a tenant of land on the last revised assessment roll; 3. The expropriating authority, each owner who notifies the approving authority that he desires a hearing in respect of the lands intended to be expropriated and any owner added as a party by the inquiry officer are parties to the inquiry. Sympathy of the entire coramunity is extended to the family of Mr. W. McKay, long time resident of Terrace Bay,who died suddenly on Sunday evening at Dryden where he had been visiting relatives. A son, George McKay left Monday morning for Dryden The News is indebted to Master Charles Kettle who, entirely on his own initiative, undertook to pick out and list our channel 4 satellite: TV Programs from among .the many channels listed in the Toronto papers. We endeavoured, when the satellite was first in- stalled,to secure these listings and were informed by CTV Toronto that we could subscribe to their mag- azine and pick out the programs ourselves. This is in great contrast to CKPR TV at the Lakehead and to WLUC TV in Marquette who have for years pro- vided district papers with their listings free of charge' Since our TV listings are unsponsored and the space devoted to them ts @ community service we have refused to pay for a listing from what is,after alla system already subsidied by the taxpayers. PLAY DAY HELD AT ST. MARTIN'S St. Martin's Separate School held a Play Day for the pupils, on Monday June 23. The school was divided into two sections, Junior taking in Kindergarten to Grades 1 and 2 and Sem Senior, Grade 3 to 8. For the Junior Play day there were obstacle, races over and under, dodge the ball, hit the bucket, mouse trap, and lost shoe race. The Seniors had donkey kick, soccer kick, skiing, izzy dizzy, obstacle course, soccer dribble, target throw, and tug of war. Winners in the Junior Division were Ist Prize - Captain Fay Dakin, Joe Rochon; Gilda Pedersen, Billy Caron, Paul Dashkewytch and Donna DePaolo. 2nd prize - Captain - Randy Fournier, Leslie Continued page 15 .......
