PAGE 14 Rebekah Lodge - cont'd from page 13 .... The travelling gavel was presented by members of Sapphire Lodge, Fort William. A letter from Mrs. Vada Kingswood, incoming D.D.P. notified members of the inaugural meeting of the District Association on June 26 in the LOOF hall in Port Arthur. Second nominations for elective officers was held. One candidate was initiated into membership - under degree captain Mrs. Gladys Hamilton who was also soloist. An invitation to attend a meeting in the interest of the Ontario Association for the Mentally Retarded was received and a request for a member to assist ~ with the lunch following the meeting. Mrs. Lillian Christie volunteered. Mrs. Earlene Johnson convened the lunch which was served in the lower hall following the meeting. SCHOOL BOARD ENTERTAINED The staff of Schreiber Public School entertained the former school board and their wives or husbands at a tea in the staff room. Mr. Ermel, the principal, expressed his appreci- ation and that of the staff for the co-operation re- ceived through the years. He commented on the high standard of equipment, saying it is one of the best equipped schools in the area. Although he is - leaving, he said he will be watching with interest progress of the school and others in the area. W.G. Furlonger responded for the board, thank- ing the staff, and saying the board would naturally miss the close association with the school, but progress brings changes and with the new board should come improvements for the school. He ex- tended good wishes to those leaving the staff and wished them success in their new positions. TOWN TOPICS Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Gerow and Mary Ellen are in Winnipeg to visit their daughter Donna, (Mrs. Ted Wainikka) and her family. Mrs. H.P. Bourguignon is a patient in McKellar Hospital . : At the last meeting held by the Anglican Church Women before the summer recess, Mrs. David Harrison who is leaving Schreiber was presented TERRACE BAY NEWS | with a gift of appreciation by the Women for her work in the church. ANNUAL TABLOID Friday, June 6th was the date of the Annual Tabloid at Holy Angel's. The school was divided The Angel's Harp into two divisions. From kindergarten to grade four were on the Junior Teams and grades five to eight comprised the Senior teams. The students rotated from post to post gathering up points by completing sports activities successfully. The winning team was the team with the most points at the end of the day.
