Oe R DEGREE TO BE HELD JUNE 11 At the regular meeting of Ruby Rebekah Lodge it was announced that Sapphire Lodge will bring the travelling gavel here on Nov. 11, and at the same time Mrs. Madge Ailey, D.D.P. will make her offi- cial visit. Mrs. Norma Fummerton NG and Mrs. Christina Morris VG were in the chairs. Sick and visiting re- port was given by the vice=grand who said she had visited Mrs. Ted Wilson in her home, a wedding gift had been sent to Miss Dorothy S!y in Edmonton, a card and rose bowl to Mrs. Pearl Hiller and get well, sympathy and birthday cards were sent. Reporting for the CP and T committee, Mrs. Jean Fisher said a wheel chair had been purchased and thanked members who had donated to the Hospital Tuck Shop. Notification regarding the program for the Rebekah Assembly Sessions and the order form for the 1970 calendars were received. A donation was made to the Eye Bank and Visual Research Foundation fund. Degree will be held Junel1, and Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, Degree Captain announced practise dates for May 28 and June 10, at which time all members are requested to be present. BRIDE-ELECT HONORED Miss Sharon Jarva, bride-elect of June 7th, was honored by her friends at a shower tea held in the Anglican Church Hall. Receiving with her were her 'mother, Mrs. John Jarva, her fiance's mother, Mrs. Gordon McParland Miss Doris McParland, and Mrs. Neil Bottomley. The tea was poured by Mesdames John Danylevich, grandmother of the bride-elect, Mrs. Ambrose Mc- Grath, Mrs. Ted Wilson, and Mrs. T. Bottomley. Mrs. Ralph Morrill was dining room hostess . Servitors were Misses Muriel Nesbitt, Judy and Sheila McParland, Mary Eiien Gerow, Gail and Cathy Bottomley, and Miss Heather Crowhurst of Fort William. The gifts were opened by Miss Heather Graham and Rosemary McParland, and Kelly McParland and Brenda Bottomley circulated the guest book. Mes- dames Alex Gordon, Jack Gordon, Charlie Pearson, M. Denise St. Jean is in St. Joseph's hospital, Port Arthur . : Ora Mae Harness is home from Toronto for a visit with her parents. Mrs. Estelle Goobie of Toronto is visiting her daughter Mrs. Ross Hill and family. Miss Cathy Lang of Fort William was the guest last week of Mr. and Mrs, Gary Drake. Mrs. M. Shapiro of Port Arthur visited her sister Mrs. Harry Welbourne last week. Mrs. Henry Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Lidkea of Fort William spent the weekend with relations here. CANCER SOCIETY CAMPAIGN YEAR SUCCESS The Cancer Society of Schreiber had a very succes sful campaign this year realizing over $875.00. Working with Mrs. J. Stokes, Campaign Chairman, were the faithful team captians Mesdames J. Bryson, J. Campbell, J. Rummery, R. MacAdam, O. Niemi L. McCuaig, W. Cook, J, Smith, A. Major, Miss Cathy Stokes of Schreiber and Mrs. L. Ibey Rosspert. INTERMENT IN SCHREIBER CEMETERY The funeral of the late Mrs.. William Alcorn, whose death in hospital occured on May 20, was conducted in St. John's Anglican Church in Schreibe May 23 by Rev. Arthur Chabot. Wendy Weaver was the organist and the hymns chosen were "Unto the Hills and Abide With Me." Honorary pallbearers were Jack McCouan, Walter Wilkes, Bill Furlonger, George Duncan, Nelson Smith and Tommy Whitton. - con'd page 13
