PAGE 8A INCREASE IN MOOSE MEMBERSHIP Terrace Bay Moose Membership increased by ten new members which were initiated on April 12. All officers were present at this big event and participated in the ritual. Entertainment chairman for Social was Ken May. Mrs. Rose Dakin and her committee served a very delicious lunch. ANNUAL MEETING HELD IN KENORA The L.A. to the Guide and Brownies, Terrace Bay met Monday evening April 28 at the Community Church. The meeting opened with reading of the minutes and treasurers report. Mrs. H. Hiebert,convenor, and Mrs. T. Melnyk co-convenor, reported on the Easter Bake Sale and an expression of appreciation was extended to all mothers and people of Terrace Bay who helped make this annual event so success- ful. Two L.A. members Mrs. S. Duquette and Mrs. |. Kettle were enrolled as committee members .and pre- sented with their membership pin by Madame Com- missioner $. Caron. It is hoped that this will encou encourage more members to consider enrollment. Madame Commissioner S. Caron reported on the recent annual meeting held in Kenora at which some 119 delegates were present including Terrace Bay. --, MOOSE BOWLING BANQUET & DANCE music by the manitouwadge orchestra $3.00 Per couple for bowling members $5.00 Per couple for non-bowling members open to moose members only Many new, helpful hints were obtained from the meeting to be put to use working with the local Guides and Brownies. Plans were made in Kenora for a Blue and Brown Guider training to be held in Marathon in September. Also, it was recommended that the local Guides entertain the Brownies for one day in order for the girls to function closer together rather than separate groups. It was suggested too, that all Brownies and Guides be urged to wear running shoes to all meeting as a safety precaution against possible accidents . The local company of Girl Guides will host a Girl Guide Day to be held May 31 for all Guides 13 and over in the Lake Superior Division. Mrs. S. Duquette will convene this event. L.A. members not to take any further registrations from girls wishing to join Brownies before the summer recess, but rather to wait until the fall session com- mences. Cookie Day convened by Mrs. J. Desrosier has been scheduled for Thursday May 8 when the girls will be canvasing the town for a most worthy cause. The meeting adjourned and lunch was served by Mrs. M. Santerre.
